Not disagreeing with the driveshaft being a limiting factor, but I have taken every new Ford that I've owned up to its limiter (except the 'stang, only up to 120 so far) and from what I've been told by some Ford engineers, vehicle stability does have some influence in where the limit is set, i.e., trucks, vans, suvs, are limited around 89-93 (both of my Rangers, the F-150 SC, and the Excursion) while my Focus wagon was around 105-109, all with the comp. shutoffs.

Truth of the matter is that it's a bit of an academic argument anyway. Track aside, one is not going to be using ultimate speeds on public roads. Even professional drivers would never do that, because your chances of getting into serious trouble increase exponentially as your speed climbs beyond posted limits.
My favorite thing about the Mustang, is not how fast it goes, but how enjoyably it goes fast, coupled with how quickly it can reach the posted limit - which it does more quickly than most cars on the road.
And, of course, the way the Mustang sounds is intoxicating. For example, if anyone has heard a Ferrari lumbering around town at 20 MPH, one knows they sound like a raspy bucket of bolts. It's only at high RPMs that those Italian exotics sound good. I'll take the Mustang, and its classic muscle car sound any day, thank you.

I hit 145 -150 last week on my way home from Augusta. Had the needle buried at 145 for at least 10 secs. My car had plenty of juice left I lost my nerve a little but still fun. Shaker hood was totally stable at those speeds hood didnt budge at all.

yeah i wouldn't mess with the speed limiter anyway. Just one of the many saftey things I wouldn't mess with.
Besides I live in an area of the country with crappy roads, too much sand salt and debris, where the roads are always destroyed and even if they werent they are too windy anyway.
