First stop by the cops !

I`ve had my car for 1 year 2 months now and getting caught behind some slow traffic coming home in the middle of the night, I took off through some side streets. A few blocks away a police cruiser sees me shoot across the street behind him and doubles back to check me out. As he catches me some blocks away back on a main artery I`m doing 80k in a 50 zone. As he rounds the intersection behind me he flips the lights on and my heart sinks. The minimum speeding fine is $175. I`ve pulled over and getting liscense and registration ready thinking about the girl at work just that evening asking me if I had any tickets yet, which I haven`t. As the officer gets to me he askes what the hurry is, I tell him I`m anxious to get home. He`s looking over the ID and askes me where I`m coming from and I tell him in a humble voice I`d just gotten off work and heading home. He tells me to slow it down and gives me my ID back.

Thank you !
I slowly drive the rest of the way home and sleep soundly.

Yep, This car is so much fun to drive !

You are one lucky guy.

I haven't had a speeding ticket in almost 20 years, but I KNOW this car is going to do it to me! I've only had it for a week and half and I'm surprised I haven't gotten one yet!

(Maybe I SHOULDN'T have had a V-8..........nah! )

Yeah, my car sticks out on the Mass Turnpike pretty good. I worry about the upcoming warmer months when speed traps increase.

All I can do I guess besides the detector and driving slow are to keep making the car look hotter and hotter so as to try to impress the gentleman when he walks up!

Right-on !

When making my decision on a 6 vs an 8 I remember a salesman telling me a v6 will get you in trouble just as easy. I`m finding it really hard to keep the speed down when the right music comes up on an mp3 too.

Only one speeding ticket in 17 years, but that was while driving Hondas and Minivans. I also am very aware of the high probability of getting a speeding ticket in my Mustang. But sometimes, it's who you know, or who you are.

Not getting an attitude and being straight with an officer can go a long way. Going the other route is never going to help.

The Mass Pike is not my favorite place to exceed the speed limit.
Use the Cruise.

I got my first ticket in the Mustang last month. Went before the judge and owned up to what I did, and he reduced it to "failure to obey a highway sign".

It pays to accept responsibility, tell the truth, and ask for a little grace.

Many years ago I had to take a bunch of ROTC guys to a St. Patrick's parade. We were late and I hit speeds of up to 100mph in my old Galaxie. We get pulled over and the cop asked us why were going so fast,I tell him we are late for the parade and he said slow it the h3ll down and let us go.I said yes sir and after that no more stupid hiway h#ll raising. That was prolly the most dangerous act of driving crazy I ever pulled off.Being 18 with a hopped up 390 didn't help either.

I love those big old Galaxies, but they sure weren't exactly sophisticated road machines. Back then, good handling and brakes were not standard equipment!

When I think of the stunts we pulled in those skinny-tired, drum-braked, wallowing cars back then, I think it's amazing that there are any of us old guys left! Performance cars are SO much better these days.

You are so right, Dont forget driving on bald tires after you have burned all the rubber off of them But traffic wasn't nearly as heavy like it is today

Sounds like you found yourself an easy-going Mountie. If it had been a Vancouver cop, I dunna think he would have been so "understanding."

Of course its the car. If I had my other car, it wouldn't have gotten me into that much trouble. Plus it wouldn't get me into the trouble I did that get into that quickly.
