first major mishap with stang

it took over a year and a half but today in a rush i ripped the drivers side mirror off the car, complete with tearing the wires for the power mirror. when i opened the garage, one of my dogs took off like a bat out of hell and ran outside. shes the youngest and not completely trained yet so i was in a rush to get the car inside and turned off and chase after her. so friggen stupid of me i know but poo happens. anyone know of where i can get a replacement? the glass mirror is fine, its the outer plastic housing and wire harness i need. the door is also fine with no damage. looks like i can just unplug the ripped wire connector and repalce it and the plastic with no major issue.

Sorry for mishap. That is one of my fears.
Hopefully my posting here will appease the gods. j/k
Now's your chance to go custom on the mirrors.

WTH is it with garages and mustangs?

I did that with my old car- ripped off the mirror. Wasn't looking and hit an orange cone on the road. Cost about $70 to fix.

That really stinks, although I guess it could have been worse. I can totally understand how it happened though. Dogs and roads don't mix very well! Good luck on the repair.

Hey 94..it only cost me about $175.00 when I broke one of my mirrors off backing out of the garage..the dealer had it in stock. i was going slow so I heard the crack of the plastic not the glass and had to drive to the dealer with it taped hanging on. People were shaking their heads at me like I had beat on my car when it was the darn small opening to the garage

That completely sucks man.........another reason why i won't own a dog.

How wide is your garage? I have a 2 car garage and i can fit a full size pickup through either side. I only have to fold in the drivers mirror.

its wide enough to get in with no issue i was jsut rushing to get the car parked so i could get the dog. yes i got the dog back luckily. she made it out to the edge of the property and when i called her she, for the first time, ran right back so at leastthat was a good sign. i ordered the entire mirror oday. cost 187.00 shipped overnight, including the plastic housing, glass, motor, and wires.

although it is a pain and money spent that didnt really need to be except for an oversight, it must be said that the damage to the car could have been much worse, scratches, dents, whichever. 187 for a new power mirror i feel is not too bad. sorry to hear about your loss, but at least it is easily mendable. And it should also be said that the wires ripping out could have been from the door side, which would have required an expensive harness to fix,

hope all is well

Too funny! You won't own a dog because you might damage your mirror?
