First off, I should have some pictures to post later in the week, so no "this is useless without pics"! Today was the first event of the year and about 25 cars showed up. Rain in the morning and the track was almost totally dry by the time I hit the track. There were 4 timed runs, the first one a practice and then the best time taken from the next 3 runs. It was a fast course around the oval track clockwise with a hairpin in the drag shut down area and a couple shicanes (sp) to keep the speeds down to about 75-80 MPH.
.12 of a second separated the top 3 cars
1st place 2004 Corvette ZO6
2nd place Honda S2000 (not sure on year)
3rd place me, just .06 behind the Honda
Kinda stinks to loose to a Honda, but I have to say, that little car was like a go-kart reving to about 9000rpm, awesome little car! Both the Corvette driver and myself have spent a few years kart racing (years ago for me) and it showed. The top three cars were all on their own, way ahead of the pack by about 4 seconds. A few drivers wiped out and were very, very lucky to not hit the wall. I think they had dirty pants after if you know what I mean
My impressions,
AWESOME
I only have about 5300km on the car so I had to learn how to drive it a bit as I have somewhat babied it til now. They are way different than previous year Mustangs I have raced, I think the biggest improvement is the solid feel in the rear, due to the panhard rod I am sure. The car is easy and predictable to power steer the rear in a slalom situation, very cool. Definately don't want the TC on, I forgot to turn it off on my second run and it is a hinderance. The ABS was better than my old 2000 GT and the pedal placement definately makes downshifting way easier.
Everyone was way impressed, they loved the look of the car, the sound and the performance. I feel for the first time driving that car to its limit I did well. If I had more track time with it I am sure I would have placed first for sure as there were a couple spots on the track I know I could have done better. There is nowhere on the street you could ever drive like this unless you were in police chase and that would be bad. Talk about a rush, word can't describe. I am tired now. I can't wait for the next event in about 4 weeks. Stay tuned for pictures in the coming days.
Ford, you have done your homework, job well done

Man, let me know when the next event is. I'll be back from getting my car about the 12th of May, and would love to come on up. I've been doing a little autocross down here in Seattle (mostly in my Fiero, a little in my Tacoma) and would love to come watch, at least.
Our courses are a bit slower it sounds. But I could be wrong, I'm usually too busy to look at the speedo.

CHeck out the website, the calander has all the events for the year. The next 2 are slaloms, they are slower, way more corners. Very technical layouts that bring all the field of cars closer together. High HP means nothing in those tracks, I have been beat by an old Datsun 510 many times.

I'm glad to here how well the car handled. I will be running May 15 at Texas Motor Speedway's infield course at a Autocross Event. Since I have the C&l Intake and The Diablosport Performance Tune I have to run in the Street Prepared class. What class did you run in? This will be my first time to drive in Autocross. A friend at work told me about it. Where else can you drive the car the way it should be driven without worring about Johnny Law being around the corner to give you a ticket. I can't wait to take that first corner it is going to be a blast.

I imagine stock class, it is called ES I think. Oh, and to answer a previous question, the brakes were great. No fade, good predictable feel and the ABS seemed a little smoother.
