First 05 Mustangs for rent?
#1
Hi guys,
When do you think the car rental companies will receive the first 2005 Mustangs? I am planning a business trip to Texas beginning Sept. 18th and would LOVE to rent the new model to see how it works for me.
It's sad that apparently Ford has no plans to export the new Mustang to Germany. I am dreaming of getting a convertible sometime in 2005 or 2006 even if I have to import it myself... Until then, my '83 Mustang GLX convertible will have to do...
Thanks,
A.G.

sweet man, where from Germany are you?
I think it's good that Ford doesn't import them - they'd end up with some 2,4l V6 engine for the GT... you can't sell a 4,6l V8 here at these gas prices. It would guzzle more gas than a 911 Turbo :P
If you import one by yourself, get ready for everything that'll be needed to mod - it's a lot. There are companies and individuals out there that do the entire process for you. It costs a thousand euros or something more, but I guess it's worth it - no hassle for you, and they're quite experienced and have their contacts on the other side of the atlantic ocean (-> faster shipping etc).

September 18? Sorry, no dice!
They don't begin production until around September 7, so they will most likely be available in October at the earliest. Unless there's some early deal with Hertz I don't know about.

I am from Munich, too! However, I currently work near Stuttgart during the week, so I've only got the weekends to enjoy my stang. What do you drive? Are you a member of some local US car club (or even Mustang club)? It would be fun to meet some time, let me know if you are interested and we can set up something.
Take care,
A.G.

Hi,
Seems there's a couple of guys from Germany on this forum. Drop me a email to andreas@grewings.de if you have plans to come to Munich - preferably in your Stang - and we can set up a date for a cruise in the Alps...
Seriously - it would be fun to meet with fellow Mustang enthusiasts occasionally, in any case it is great to meet you guys here.
On the original subject of this post - my business trip to Houston, TX has been postponed to November so I think I actually might get a chance to testdrive the new Mustang when I go there...
