Well, today I did it. Ordered my first new car.

The dealer has a Torch Red on the floor that financing fell through on, and they tried to make me a "last tax day deal". But it had the wrong wheels, no spoiler, black stripes and no IUP. Too many headaches to chase the parts to make it the way I want and the deal was only invoice.

So I took the leap and ordered. 8 weeks to delivery.

I certainly learned a lot from this site, and thanks to all who answered my questions and offered input.

Congrats on the order. 6-8 weeks seems to be the going wait for new orders. Heck, I waited (waiting) 6 weeks and 8 weeks.

6 to 8 weeks isn't a bad measurement if you did your homework. Mine was in that area, and it was stuck in the mixing lot for a while.

I am still a little numb - it has not really set in yet.

But as long as the weather is unpleasent in Indiana (this time of the year), the wait won't be so bad.

Hey Chris,

Where did you order from? Sounds like Inskeep Ford in Greenfield, as they have a torch red on the floor.

I ordered my vert from Innskeep on 2/07/05, they told me 3 months.

Congrats on your order.

6-8 weeks, good news but don't hold your breath. I'm in week 14 waiting on a V6 coupe. This is my first "new" car purchase too! 28 years and finally getting one of my dream rides, can't wait!

Yep - Inskeep. Jeremy showed me the list of people in front of me. I think there were two convertibles and four other Mustangs. Too bad I didn't order last week before the price went up. Cost me another $300.

The convertibles really look nice. If I didn't already have one, that is what I would have gone for...

I am just crossing my fingers that Innskeep is a good dealership to deal with. So far, I believe, they have been honest with me. Just hope they have the appropriate allocation since they are a smaller dealership.

They would not bargain with me off MSRP, but they do not add a dealer markup either. They also accept X plan out there, where I can't find an Indianapolis dealer to accept this plan.

Now to just wait for delivery.

I checked around with a few of the locals who have done business with Inskeep and all the feedback was positive, especially from one person who got a GT there last fall. He was very happy with the treatment and communication during the process.

Congrats on your order! Don't mean to burst your bubble, however I was told 6-8 weeks too. Ordered 12-6-04, got build date yesterday of 3-21-05. If they ship immediately and it makes it here a week after it's built, thats let's see .... 17 weeks. The way I look at it, if it's the car you want and you can wait for it, do it.

Man, you are one of the lucky ones SonicBlue05GT. I was told 10 -12 weeks when I ordered. I'm at 14 weeks now with no end in sight. Dealer thinks I may not even get the car.
