On the fence
Hey, I finally got the money to buy a new car. I have always wanted a stang vert for the longest time but never pulled the trigger because I did not like the way the drove. I had a SVT Contour and loved the nimbleness of it but when I drove the 01 STang and even a 03 Cobra it just did not feel right. So the 2 choices I have now are the 05 GT Vert or an S4. Very different cars but I like them both for different reasons.
I have not drove the GT since no dealer has one and when they do they wont let you drive it (I am in southern CT). Please some one tell me that driving a GT is 1000 times better than the old one..I want to want one...

There is no comparison to the 05 vs. the previous generation. Now, you are on the wrong board if you in any way want people to sway you towards an S4, so take everything with a grain of salt.
Two distinctly different cars, if you want a luxury car that is great on long road trips and has all the creature comforts, go with the Audi. If you want a car with nuts, let's you melt tires like you had an unlimited budget, and can't live without a V8, the Mustang is for you.
Plus, since mine has already been built, I don't care if you order one because it won't delay me anymore!

I understand that 4 weeks ago I'd said go with the S4 just to keep someone else off the assembly line in front of me
Well, I say buy a GT. I am a bit biased as are 99% of the people on this forum. If you want my opinion the GT I own is by far the best car that I have ever driven. The looks, feel, and performance this car offers for a great price is a winner.
It makes going from point A to point B fun and exciting, rather than just a drive.
You my friend will make the right choice for you I hope. It is your hard earned money that you are about to put down on a car. Good luck in your choice.

You can't compare these without a test drive. Then you will know. If you don't fall in love with the new mustang during the test drive, buy the S4.

An expensive proposition, but why not try and get both of these? This way you are satisfied with both factions of vehicles. There are used '05s out there, as well as A4s. You may even be able to locate a used s4. I'm sure going with both as new is out of the question.
If that doesn't work for you, the choice becomes one of personal preference. You will spend a lot more money on a new S4, that fact is true. You also won't get the performance out of the S4 unless you get the 4.2, and then you'll be spending quite a bit of $. At least 10Gs more than with the GT.
For what it's worth, the best car I had before this one was a BMW 3 series. It was a 2000, but I loved that car. The '05 is the first car since that one that can even come close to making me forget about the BMW.

Warning: they have a $5K markup on it, bringing the price to $38K. :notnice:
Also, you should check out the magazine reviews on the GT vert, like Road & Track and Car & Driver:

I have an 01 gt vert and also an 05 gt coupe, there is no comparison, the 05 is a thousand times better in every aspect
What do you want in a car?
$46,570 is alot of jack to lay down on a base model.
S4? Had no idea what it was until I looked it up so I could give my opinion. Does or has Audi ever made a decent looking car? I'd think it would atleast look pretty sweet for the price, but it looks like any other car.
If I could afford 50 grand on a car, I'd still have bought my GT. I can't even think of any car I'd rather have in that price range.
Does the audi run on gas or cafe latte?

2. Gonna get it used.
3. Cafe latte
It is just that I live in CT and going back and forth about winter driving (all wheel vs rear wheel). I also got 3 kids. Wife drives the explorer for were cool there for hauling kids but then the GT will only be for me and her. The GT will be my daily driver unless I can find a winter beater.
Just wanted to see what everyone would say about the 2 cars since they are so different. Thanks for the input, I will drive the GT and make my decision.

That's hilarious!! Good way of thinking bro!
Matt
*violently shoves you to the Mustang side of the fence for asking such a silly question*
Well the answer to #1 is obvious, unless you were comparing say an M3 to the GT...
1. I want fun.
2. Gonna get it used.
3. Cafe latte
