Fan Blade Rims?

My Mustang came with fan blade rims from the factory with gray paint in the middle on the blades. I have seen very few of these on other mustangs, in fact the only other ones I have seen were on the internet. I was just wondering if they were something that Ford did for a limited time or something else. Anybody have any ideas?

I know the fanblades you're talking about. They have a darker color than the previous ones. At my local dealership, most of the cars have them. That's the way they ordered the cars.

Yea are mine polished every and the center of the blades are painted dark gray. I couldn't find them on the option list of rims on the order form though. Thanks.

Oh no sorry that was the only reason I picked this car. All the other blues had the Ford version of the polished Torque Thrust. If I ever decide to though I will keep you in mind.

For the 2006-7 model years, Ford offered the 64E "fanblade" wheel as silver painted spokes with polished outline and rim. I have these on my '07 GT. For 2008, Ford kept the same option code 64E, but the "fanblades" came with the spokes painted darker gray. Ford has referred to all of them as the "18 inch Premium Aluminum" wheel. For 2009, Ford is only offering them on the basic GT model, not the Premium models. The Premium models have two different 18" wheel options: 64W which the same polished torq-thrust (Bullitt) style wheel that's been available since 2006 (and standard on the California Special) and the 64A which is identical, but chromed instead of "just" polished. The 64A's came out mid-way in the '08 model year.

you dont see many because the painted fanblades were not an option until 08. I love them on my vapor, and I think they look great on most darker colors, ie black, alloy and the silvers. Many people see mine and ask me if they are aftermarket because they are so used to seeing bullit style wheels on the stangs. I just wish you could get a set that were deep dish

I was about to ask the same question since I found variety in pictures as you said..

I ordered my 2008 Mustang with 64E wheels and I wish they will have the dark grey middle just like this one

as per Five Oh Brian, I think it will have it

They look a little like Konig Beyonds.

Ahhh very good point.

For those who wanted to paint the center of their fanblades, you could defnitely do it yourself.

Fanblades

My fanblades are similar. Mine came off of a 2006 GT and I put them on my 2006 V6. The center on them is a silver sparkle. They look great but eventually I want to paint them sparkle black in the centers.

My car initially came with black steel wheels and hubcaps (thanks Ford for the cheapness!). I was able to purchase a used set of 16-inch stock V6 rims for it that were on it for a few years. Then a friend of mine upgraded the wheels on his car to 20-inch Shelby rims and tires so I was able to purchase his 18-inch fanblades. I really like the look of them on my car. When I lowered the car by changing out the springs, it lowered it a bit too much and I kept bottoming out easily. Putting the 18's on it helped immensely.

Yep, they didn't even include me. No, I sold the steel wheels and hubcaps. I also changed the charcoal cloth interior to a charcoal GT leather interior. With the upgrades I've made, it definitely is not the same car is was.

Fanblades

Hey Tim: How are you doing? I haven't talked to you in a long time. I've been working on the 68. My Shelby coupe conversion is starting to happen. I started with the engine bay. All of the things I've done to that can transplant to the 351W (to be stroked to 408).

How did the wheels help from bottoming out? The over all diameter should not have changed. Smaller rim, taller tire, larger rim shorter tire = same diameter.
The OE 16" tire size and the 18" OE tire size are effectively the same diameter leaving the car ride height the same.

Talking fanblades

Nope it increased the ride height. There is a difference between 16-inch rims and tires and 18-inch rims and tires.

Julie

OE 16" Wheel 215/65/16 BFG Traction TA(OE Tire) = 27" Diameter
OE 17" Wheel 235/55/17 Pirelli P Zero (OE tire) = 27" Diameter
OE 18" Wheel 235/50/18 BFG TA KDW (OE Tire) = 27.3" Diameter

So thats a .15" of a ride height gain.

I guess it is a gain, lol. But not immense, more like minute.
You would get more ride height by losing 50 pounds, lol.

(not saying you need to, never seen you) and I would never say that to anyone
