Hey,

I remember seeing an initial pic of the guages and them showing a shift light. Then, when the car came out, it went away. Well, I was cruising the GTO forums, and they had something interesting. An integrated shift light that was disabled from the factory. Turns out with some programming, they were able to get the full use of the shift light and shift buzzer, which was in the computer, but locked out. Any chance this is a possibility with the mustang? Or is the cutout for the light gone too?

Well some people mentioned it went away, maybe that isn't the case.

No shift light in the world (factory or aftermarket) is going to help you with that 2nd to 3rd shift in a GTO.

Just kidding, I saw some nice aftermarket ones that mount inside the vent, but I haven't seen anything on factory installed ones.

Yeah, that trans is sloppy. I don't own one, just noticed that someone had unlocked the factory light.

Thank God there is no shift light and particularly no buzzer. That would be the most annoying thing in the world. Why do I need my car to tell me when to shift? It would be the first thing I would take off if it were present.

I once had to drive a friend home (after he tipped back a few too many ) in his 1990's-ish Cavalier. What a POS! That stupid car with it's "shift now" indicator was the most annoying thing I've driven. If you have to be told when to shift, you shouldn't be buying a manual tranny IMHO.

Shift lights are just about impossible to follow... and I agree, one of the most annoying things ever put on cars. I wouldnt have bought a mustang if it had one... thats how much I hate them.

The Focus has that too. I find it annoying. I know some Focus owners that decided to pull their clusters out just to yank the bulb out because it was too annoying to look at.

Guess I was wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. I looked for the thread I thought I read it on, but could not find it.
