Question EZ Pass Transponder

Question.... anyone have an EZ pass transponder on their 07 windshield?
Can it be put on the area behind the mirror that has the "pony" tinting?
any other ideas on how to mount the thing without it looking soooo out of place? Wish they came in colors, and not just white.
I am also wondering if the dotted pony tinting will allow the transponder to work.................

I put mine just above my registration and inspection stickers. Basically above where that white sticker is on your car window on the right corner (looking at it from outside). I was worried bout putting it on those black dots and ripping them off, and any lower and it just looks dumb.

So far reads fine, have not been issued any notices.

I keep mine in my console and toss in on the dash when rolling through. The paint on the windshield won't affect it.

I have my EZPASS below the pony tinting. I prefer not to stick it over it.

I used to do that when ours were just a card. Think they got annoyed people were tossing them in different cars. They've gone to a 2x2 sticker with a tiny chip.

i just hold mine up to the windshield when driving thru, and throw it in the center console otherwise. no reason to keep all that plastic-velco crap on the windshield

I found a holder for the transponder that sticks on with suction cups. This way I don't have to mount it permanently, and I can switch it between cars.

They're about to introduce a Toll Gate system in Dubai, as of right now it's not introduced.

I'm assuming the chips are some kind of Radio Frequency?

As they're already inside a plastic case... Could you put them inside the plastic bumper on the front of the car?

Any other ways to keep it out of site?

As some of you may have seen I have a little obsession for the Saleen or CDC Glass roof idea... a white tag stuck on the window is really going to ruin the all-clear look I'm going for.

I'd have the Giugiaro all glass top if I could

EZ Pass can kiss my a$$ I used to use them in NY/NJ for the evil **** toll roads. It's a RF transponder tag similar to your PATS key. With advanced antennae, the EZ Pass booths can now read your tag at high speed.

I leave mine in the concole and put on the dash when I go through as well. They are RFID as someone said. Tinting should not effect it. Being too far away and putting it in the special bag it came in will keep it from working. It should have come with some instructions that will answer some of the FAQ's. Mind did anyway.

Try not to speed too much between check points, woops I meant tolls because it logs every transaction.

You can place it where the dots are without any problems. You can also paint the side that faces the glass black as I have done. Since I don't live in Arizona it does not get to hot.

I hold mine to the window, and don't leave the velcro on the window. You need to know how to balance the clutch or do it going like 40 to get it to read (I missed once, and they sent me a warning)

There are now two major types of transponders in use. The OP was referring to the newer 'sticker' with an embeded chip not the older plastic case tag. The newer types MUST be adhered to the windshield to work and cannot be stored in the center console or moved from vehicle to vehicle. While they will work if adhered to the pony area above the mirror, removing the sticker when it needs replacing will be more problematic there. Painting the adhesive side of the sticker would be difficult.

Mine is below the mirror mount, centered on the windshield. Some folks place them over the registration decal. Shows as an EZTag logo from the outside and yes, its ugly on my Shelby but a necessary evil in this day and age I suppose.

Mine is behind the mirror, partly over the black pony dots with no problem.

Have never received a ticket. They have not stepped up to use it for that purpose anywhere I have traveled in DE, PA, NJ, MD, NY or elsewhere. Thank goodness.

Has anyone thought about mounting it inside a lesser-used Fog light, or if it will fit, a turn signal?
