Extra hp or not?
I have a 06 gt with cai, it had the flat factory hood but I'm putting a gt500 style hood With working ram air system will it add hp or not. I'm sure if it does won't be but few. Thanks for any info

My Shaker setup (CAI) was done at the dealer when the car was new and I was told maybe 5 HP. In other words, like posted above by YepItsGreen, no noticeable difference.

A ram air system works to provide extra HP, but even a true ram air system will net you very small gains. You also have to understand that those gains would only be seen as the car speeds up, as the car moves faster more air is forced in which makes more power only at high speeds.
To put things in perspective, the Ferrari 458 uses a two engine intakes (one behind each side window) that use the ram air effect. The ram air effect produces a peak of about 5hp when the car is moving at 200mph.
Long story short, no you will not see a difference from the ram air effect. You may have some tiny gains from having a higher flowing intake, but again nothing noticeable.

I was also looking into putting a GT500 hood on my 06 GT until I found out about the fitment issues..

Hopefully soon
IIRC If you plan on installing a GT500 hood on a stock GT, you'll also need to replace your stock GT front fascia with the GT500 fasica, otherwise you'll end up having alignment issues..

I'm also a bit confused about the headlights as well.. I don't know if it's just the lighting or what ? but your headlights seem to appear to look more like cat eyes lol.
I also saw your hood pics and now I understand why your didn't need to switch out your stock GT front fascia in favor of the GT500 fascia..
I must had misunderstood your original post and thought you had meant that you were replacing your stock GT hood with an actual OEM GT500 hood ?
But from what I see in your pics, your new hood is an aftermarket version that has GT500 styling cues to it, however isn't an actual GT500 hood, but rather a direct replacement for the OEM GT hood..
Anyway your new hood looks really great and kind of reminds me of the Fang ram air hoods from Fang performance which unfortunately went out of business several years ago..
In the meantime, my apologies for misinterpreting your original post

GT500 hood fits great from corner to corner on my 06 GT. There is a small gap between the grille and hood though.

The only other overlays I'm familiar with are the front spliters that came with the 2007 Parnelli Jones Saleen 302 edition..

Just knowing about the gap being there would be enough to bother me..
By any chance do you have any pics ? If you do, I'd be really interested in seeing how the GT500 hood looks on your 06 GT

As for the hood itself ! I know it will fit Craig.. However the reason I didn't make the switch was due to the gap between the grille/front fascia and hood

This is the best pic I have Rocky, but the angle and lighting isn't the best to see the gap. I have since gone back to the stock hood, car looks clean and sounds mean lol.

As a matter of fact, a friend of mine was going to sell me his old GT500 hood for $500.00 but once I found out about the gap issues, I decided against buying it from him..
So I can certainly understand why you've since gone back to the stock GT hood as I would had done exactly the same as you did

Perhaps one day I might make the switch, but it will also have to include the GT500 front fascia.. My issue however is finding both at a reasonable price which is highly unlikely
