Hey Guy,s My GT is due next week and I want to buy the extended warranty, but when I asked my dealer about firm prices he kind of gave me the run around. I think they want to add the price to my monthly payments so it does not seem so expensive??? has any one bought the extended warranty?? if so how much did you pay?? I want to be well informed when I'm signing the final paper work

Thanks Paul B)

Don't forget to check with your insurance company. They offer extended warranties. Get there price and bring it to the dealer and have some negotiating ammo.

So far, I have not gotten an extended warranty, so I do not know any costs.

I didn't purchase the extended warranty when I took delivery last Thursday. You do not have to purchase it right when you buy the car. You have time, I think it is very close to the end of your factory warranty, before you no longer can purchase the Ford extended warranty.
From the paper work my dealer showed me onthe whole package; extended warranty, paint protection and interior protection, it was somewhere in the range between $1,000.00 to $2,000.00. All I remember is that it was pricey. They will try to through it in to your payment if you are using their financing.
For me I will put that money away let it work for me, then later if I want the extended warranty buy it. Others on here may be able to give you a better cost

I got an extended warranty, though it wasn't through Ford. It was another one that the dealer offers, which was significantly less expensive. I paid $1500 to add another 3 years and 34000 miles to make it 6 years 70000 miles total.

I asked them about using official Ford parts, etc., and they said as long as I use dealers to do the work, all they CAN use is Ford parts.

I did buy an extended warranty on my new Pilot this year. The only reason I did was because it was cheap 7/75,000 for 750$ That sounded really good to me so I grabbed it.

I don't plan on going extended on the Mustang, I'll eventually be doing mods to void it anyway..... so I figure why bother.

I'm just hoping it doesn't bite me in the butt, like my last american car did. A 95 Monte Carlo. Transmission failed right after basic warranty was up. They did OK by paying for half of it after a little arm twisting, but the car turned into a nightmare moneypit afterward anyway......I swore off american cars since....until now.

Tony (SixtySix),

Good point !!!

From what I have seen here, many '05 owners, particularly GT types, are thinking about mods that might void, at least in part, their warranty. Definitely something to think about before dishing out big bucks for maybe nothing.

I bought the Ford Premium Care plan for $950. It added 3 additional years of bumper to bumper coverage with a $50 dollar deductible per visit (not per warranted part).

I was able to afford this because my dealer was able to negotiate a better interest rate with my credit union. Now I have peace of mind for the next six years.

CHECK FORDESP.COM usually get better prices there. i bought mine through there and it saved me $150. The dealer was telling me that ford set a price that they have to sell at, bs. check ford esp then ask the dealer to match/beat

I got the 7-year 75,000 mile warranty through Ford. I paid an extra $50.00 to have 0 deductable. It was a $50.00 deductable without it. I thought just one visit and it would pay for itself. The total warranty was $1200.00 plus the $50.00 I paid.

Gieco Insurance company is only like $64 a year and covers bumper to bumper. You have to 15K to purchase if you are with them. If I remember correctly it takes you out to 6 years or 100K miles. Not a bad deal.

I will keep my money for the next 2 years 11 months give or take and let that $1,200.00 + work a little for me, then I will get an extended warranty maybe. The time should run out before the miles, since the GT is not a daily driver. I did take the dealers free rental use for 2 years or 24,000 miles. I thought that was very nice thing for them to do. I used it yesterday and today, while the fixed a small scratch on the front lower facia. It was small and not a major thing but, they pointed it out to me
