Exhaust, how to decide?
For those of you who have changed out the exhaust on your cars, how did you test to see which system you liked the best? I know you can find videos online of different set ups, but hearing them on youtube and hearing them in person are two different things. What is the best way to go about researching this?
Thanks.
Thanks.

YouTube is a great place to get an idea of how the exhaust will sound. Manufacturers and some vendors have sound clips on their websites of the exhaust systems. Nothing is going to sound exactly like the real deal!
Some dealerships are putting aftermarket exhaust on their cars (our local Ford dealer does) and you can ask them to start the car so you can hear it. Most Ford dealers have a Shelby GT on the lot and the FRPP X pipe and GTA mufflers is a very popular choice on this forum. Have them start up the Shelby so you can hear it. Heck, take it for a test drive!
I hope this info helps~

Here's a great assortment of links to help you decide on an exhaust:

Hope it doesn't get whacked for being on another stang site.

I personally knew before I had the car or even placed my order for the car that I would be going with the Borla Stingers. Even without hearing them. See I have been running Borla Exhaust since 1988 when i installed one of their cat back setups on my F150 and have run nothing but Borla since and will not run anything else.
As for the best way to hear them find a local mustang club and go to one of their get together or car shows and listen to them in person.

You will see many (me included) who have done trial and error to get the right sound

just when i thought i was going to be able to save some money...
The SLPs are definitely my favorite but if I had to choose something that wouldn't get me a ticket it'd be close between the JBA's or the MAC's
