Ok, so there probably wont be Europe distribution of the 05 mustang from the start. But how 'bout later on? The Mustang is a popular iconic car over here too. And it would surely sparkle new life in Ford's reputation here. Any rumors, speculations,..?

 

I'm sure there will be, stangs are popular over there too. Seems to me England and Germany make the news more than most. However on a close up of the rad cover I coulda swore I saw something asian?

 

Does Ford sell the current Mustang in Europe? If not, when was the last time they marketed one there?

Perhaps your nearest Ford store can give you an answer, or you could email Ford and ask them.

 

I never saw Mustang live before coming to the USA. Ford have its models for USA and for the rest of the world. Mustang is not one of those for rest of the world.

Only difference between European and Australian Ford is the wheel.

 

There was a rumor of a 2.3L turbocharged version of the 05 Mustang for europe a while back, I doubt that a V8 version would be available if they decide to export it.

 

I wonder about the cost in comparison to the other European cars. With shipping being the other way around with the US car shipping over, the cost may not justify the purchase in comparison to local cars. Unless a buyer just has to have a Mustang regardless.

 

Comparing euro with dollar value, it would be a VERY good deal. But hey, gas costs will be higher here anyways.

You don't see a lot of Mustangs here, but they DO have a popular image. It's kinda strange.

Do they drive left in Australia?? I didn't know. I thought the UK was a solitary case.

I'm planning on importing a Stang. Dunno when, I guess late 2005 or 2006. The price calculates like this:

base price / euro-us$ exchange rate (currently ~1.20) * 1.10 (duty) * 1.16 (VAT) + ~1000€ (shipping) + ~2000€ (mods, and lots of expert opinions so that they let you move this car on german ground)

it's a lot of stuff... you need amber turn signals etc, and you are for example required to have headlights distance controls on your car. the stang doesn't have it, you cannot add it aftermarket, so the state government (yup) has to allow you not to have one on your car. you must prove that the airbag complies with the requirements, as well as emissions, headlights, brakes.

 

The 1999-2004 Mustangs were only sold in the US, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and Australia, with the Aussies just getting a small handful one year. I doubt they will be exported to any other country.

 

a 2.3 litre engine is more than enough for the european markets.

The motor-journalists in german tv shows says: "great design, like the classic stangs. But only 2 or 4 airbags, no automatic-aircondition (right word?), too large engines, no IRS ..."

You pay for 1 litre unleaded fuel over 1,20 US $, here, near munich. Thanks the 70% mineral-oil tax .
A BMW 325i is a big engine for Germany. V8 or large V6 engines are only for rich peoples here in europe. But the drive Mercedes, BMW, Audi or sometimes Jaguar.

Some free importers sell mustangs here and i think the 2005 is a styleful (and cheap) alternative to a porsche boxter or a mercedes CLK. But not the public sportscar, like in USA.

Nah. I didn't mean the UK wasn't part of Europe but that not all of Europe is like the UK, you know. I've heard that "in Europe they drive on the left side of the road" so often now, I thought it was time to explain it

Rumors are for the 2005 coming to Belgium next year, but probabely in full GT trim, meaning that it will be very expensive. This is only a rumor though

As for as the 1999-2004 goes, it was imported in Belgium via Hessing DeBildt (Dutch company) Quite a few were sold, even some GT's. As already mentioned before, in Belgium we pay huge taxes and insurance on big engined cars. And the fuel is triple the price here too !

Currently you can't buy the 2004 anymore. They have stopped bringing them in. I have high hopes that they will restart selling the 05 model in the near future. I am quite sure it will sell (allthough not in high numbers)

I haven't heard anything about a 2.3 turbo.... (maybe for the better)
