ERL changes ...

Hi all: I haven't found an answer in search, so here goes:

Is there a difference in the ERL saying:

1. "as of 12/8/06 your unit is locked in for production; it is scheduled to be built week of 12/4/06 with a eta to your dealership week of 12/16/2006", and
2. "as of 12/8/06 your unit is scheduled to be built week of 12/4/06 with an eta week of 12/22/06"

A week ago I was getting message #1 from the ERL - today (12/9) & the past few days, I've been getting message 2.

TIA!

I had a similar situation - was scheduled to be built the week of 11/6 with an ETA week of 11/20. Then, right around the time it was being built the ETA changed to week of 11/24. It showed up at the dealer 11/22. Patience!

There's a good chance the first ERL status is the correct one.

My 07 GT arrived after the ETA date and the date changed back and forth also. So just goes to show that nothing is set in stone. Hopefully you'll have your ride before xmas!!

I read a write up on the ERL from another site that explained there was a difference between the two.

Message 1: It should have been like this, "You vehicle is locked in for production on ../../.. ..." This is a tentative date for production.

Message 2: "Your vehicle is scheduled to be built on ../../.. ..." This is a definite production date/week.

I started calling the ERL successfully last week. I was told locked in w.o. 12/4, eta w.o. 12/15. Then later that day it switched to scheduled w.o. 12/4, eta w.o. 12/22. Then a couple of days ago it said as of 12/5 it was released and eta was 12/15 again! You gotta remember that these things are estimates, and not always spot on. Like he said above, PATIENCE!

P.S. I can PM you over the document that has some good info about the ERL if you'd like. Just shoot me a PM if you want it.

For me, message 1 was 100% accurate down to the build date and delivery date. Since the dealership was only 50 min from Flat Rock, MI it actually took less than 1 day to ship it over by truck/convoy, but it took over 5 weeks from the day of ordering to when it arrived.

If Ford could reduce that lead time and fulfill customer orders ASAP, they'd sell a tad more cars.

The second message is more accurate, but remember it's an estimated time of arrival. Once it leaves the plant, it's out of Ford's hands as to when it arrives. After that, it's up to the rail service and car hauler company to get it to the dealer.

BTW, that "future" date of 12/8 is most likely your actual build date. Get an OASIS report from your dealerships service center when the car comes in and check which day it was actually built to see if it was.
