At least now it would seem I know when things will happen:
Mr. Klink,
Greg Goebel forwarded your e-mail to me for response. I am Shawnee
Mission Ford's Ford rep. responsible for assisting dealers in scheduling
stock and retail units.
First of all, I would like to thank you for your order and, most of all,
you patience. It's apparent you are aware of some of our scheduling
policies and procedures. With that, let me continue with a policy and
scheduling procedure that was dictated to the field force (my office and
16 other regional offices throughout the country) on or about the same
time your retail Mustang was ordered.
This directive came from Ford Division's General Sales and Service
Manager and the directive is in line with commitments Ford Motor Company
must adhere to under the terms of our Sales and Service agreement we
have with our 4,300 dealers nationwide. Our General Sales Manager
stated that every dealer would have one Mustang convertible scheduled.
In the Kansas City Region we have over 150 dealers that are too small to
earn their own allocation, so over the past eight weeks, it was
necessary to pull allocation from other dealers, like Shawnee Mission
Ford, to fulfill this commitment.
Not that misery loves company, by any means, however, there are over 200
retail Mustang customers that have been waiting for their Mustangs since
last October. These 200 customers are all in the Kansas City area. You
can just imagine how big this number is nationally. Fortunately for
Shawnee Mission Ford and for you, your Mustang order has the highest
priority and is in the batch for one of the next retails to be
scheduled.
Our scheduling is complete for April build. The very best I can do for
you is to be sure you have a schedule date for May production. We start
May production on April 14, 2005. That would mean that you would have a
VIN # sometime between April 15 and April 19, 2005.
I again thank you for your patience and apologize for this very lengthy
delay.
Sincerely,
Jan Adams

Did anyone else no about the contractual obligation that all dealers, regardless of their allocation, are entitled to receive one convertible? I had no idea. Even though it is making my wait a little longer, I think it is a fair policy.

I had read a post (don't remember where) about the 1 convertible per dealer. Guess your email confirms that. Now, if I had only order a vert! Great you finally know when you'll get your car built!

That email makes me feel good about my dealer since it confirms what he told me earlier this month. It doesn't help knowing I am going to have to wait a little longer, but I'm glad for those who have waited patiently since last year.
