I just saw the 05 on TV with the electronic keypad like the Explorers have. I think it looks horrible, how about you? I haven't seen this discussed yet, if it has, lock away. I hope it's preproduction only or I was seeing things. It was the break during the NASCAR race showing drivers and lucky fans riding in the 05 Ford Lineup. Please, someone tell me I saw the wrong car!

that just ruins the car to me. i mean, i don't care about them on explorers or cars i'm not going to drive, but on a mustang? it adds family appeal to a car that DOESN'T NEED family appeal. i mean the back seat is hardly big enough for one person! gosh ford, what are you doing now?!

Wow, I Really thought that Fords Keypad Keyless Entry had pretty much gone away since Transmitter Type Remote Entry has become almost standard on any car? I know I see the Keypads on Explorers, Navigators, and other SUV's and Mini Vans, and I know it is Available as a Dealer Installed Option on Most Ford Cars, but I Doubt it will come from the factory with the Keypad Style Entry.

We have had that type on 7 of the cars my family have owned, 4 of them mine, and it is a nice thing to have when you go out to your car and don't have the Keys, but on my 97 T-Bird, Ford didn't even offer it. I have the factory Transmitter, but had an alarm put on it and use the transmitters for the alarm.

I saw the same commercial during the race and i think what you saw was the locks for the new 500. the pictures they were showing didnt seem to match up with the voice over. they were showing the 500 when they were talking about the mustang. so dont go grab that gun yet. Just a poorly edited segment

Don't see the point... Seemed cool when I was little. But I at least in a few weeks... will own a car. And it will have an alarm fob.

-side: I have betrayed you all. My soul now belongs to the LS1

-side: I'm thinking of keeping my hair kind of short in the front and sides but letting it get long in the back. What does everyone think?

Invite 6 or 7 of us over and we'll have a celebratory picnic, while eating lunch on your dash....

The only thing useful for them is when you go to the beach you can leave your keys in the car and not worry about take a swim with your key fob..

But my mustang will not have one. Don't think it will look right.

I would love to have it as an option. When I go surfing I have to hide my key in the wheel wells usually which stinks! Bring on the key pad.

Yes. The LS1 didn't show up until 1998.

There was tons and TONS of complaints when Ford weaned away from it. If you fly a plane, boat, go to outdoor activities, go to amusement parks, sporting events, rock concerts, rock climb, or heck even skinny dip, you can lock your keys in your car. If youve owned a boat, you've lost keys(and phone, and jewlery, and sometimes girlfriends) in the water at some point But its more suited for trucks.

There is one you can buy from ford for 100 bucks that works with every ford with power locks. someone just stuck it on the car. You can stop by a ford parts counter tomorrow and get one on your Ford.

ford store acessories

you can mount it wherever you want on the car

I myself have a Lincoln Mark VIII (Look to left!)

Anyway, I have had the keypad since my old Mark VII. They are the greatest thing. I use mine all the time. Even though I do have the Fob. I dunno. I got used to the one on the 7, and love it.

But.

It would be dumb looking on the Mustang. Unless it were hidden, I wouldn't want one. I sure would miss having it though...

So...

I'll get one and it'll go under the front left fender.

I had one on my explorer. It is really good if someone else needs to use your car and you can't exchange keys. Also great if you lock keys in car. I wouldn't put one in view, but, would like one hidden (like under the fake gascap).

But after 1 week everyone will know that there's a keypad there?

With a keypad.......doesn't that defeat the purpose of laser keyed technology?
