Thumbs down Dustin gets pulled over again, Part V: Beach Patrol

So today I'm at Hampton Beach (NH) and it's a madhouse. I'm on the strip for an hour stuck in traffic. You know how when you're stuck in traffic and your foot gets sore from pushing in the clutch? Well my foot just about got numb. So I get just about right in front of the Casino right on the strip and I pull away from a stop and I fumbled with the clutch and the tired barked a tiny bit as I rolled away. It was just a tiny squeal, nothing major. No joke 2 seconds later there's a patrol car right behind me that came out of NO WHERE, must have pulled out of the side street. Now I've been going to this beach for the last 10 years every Friday night and I've never seen anybody get pulled over by a cruiser. Sure enough the blues come on and I pull over. The dialogue went something like this.

cop: license and registration
me: here you go
cop: you just learning to drive your car?
me: no why
cop: then why did you PEEL OUT back there?
me: I didn't mean to my foot slipped off the clutch
cop grunts and goes back to his car
(the lady friend proceeds to start laughing at me)

Then I start really getting pissed off at this point. These cops at this beach are real , they are rude to everybody and don't give any breaks. I know for sure that I'm going to get a ticket. I wasn't so pissed about the ticket, I was only pissed that if I was going to get a ticket for peeling out I would have done a line lock show in front of everybody on the main part of the strip. At this point there are about 300 people watching me. A little fat kid is pointing and laughing at me with one hand and holding an ice cream cone in another about 10 feet from my car. The embarassment was punishment enough, forget the ticket I dont care about that.

cop comes back with just my registration and license in his hand (pheww)
cop: I'm just going to give you a warning. Everybody says that they didn't mean to do it and I'm not going to make any conclusions. Just learn to drive with your clutch or Hampton Beach isn't for you.

Rediculous

Fifth time I've gotten pulled over in this car, and all warnings. YOU CAN'T TICKET ME!!!!

I've never gotten pulled over. Outran a cop once, but that's it. Only time I've gotten crap is when I had my hood up at a Starbucks by our local POS Jackson Twp Police Department... "Gotta put your hood down, this isn't a car show." WTF? Get a life. I should've know better in front of a coffee shop... good thing they don't sell donuts.

Just for having your hood up? That's what I call an A-hole. I would have told him to get a life right to his face. I have not had any police incidents so far but I speed pretty frequently. lol

Driving at the beach on the main road is always bumper to bumper every summer weekend and twice as bad 4th of July weekend.
I haven't done that drive in about 20 years and it sucked back then.
I usually head straight up to Rye or Maine on the weekends.
Oh and you're right by the way, THE COPS AT OUR BEACH ARE.
I've been SURROUNDED by them for legally parking in a parking lot to watch the sunrise.

I had a very similar event in Wilmington, DE of all places in my '95 Canary Yellow GT vert. The car had 17" ZR tires on it which did not take much to get to barking. I was on a hill with a plane jane right on my tail at a red light. Light goes green and I put a little extra on it just so I don't roll back into the guy who is ON MY ***! He pulls me over and says that he could take my license for "Speed Exhibitionism"! I tell him that I gave it a little xtra because I thought that he was kind of tight on my rear and I didn't want to roll back into him. He says "I always leave plenty of room". "If your clutch is slipping, you need to get it looked at".

Are they regular cops on the waterfront or rent a cops? Lots of towns hire temps for the summer to patrol the waterfront and they are ballbreakers. The good thing is if you get a ticket and fight it by the time you go to court in the fall they won't show up becuase their gig is over.

They are regular cops, but some come over from the local university for the summer. The college is only a few miles away though.

The other day I took my dad's corolla for a spin to get the oil changed in it. Granted, I suck at driving a 5 speed still. Almost every intersection I chirped because I still couldn't get the takeoff correct. Bah... It was either chirp or stall, but luckily I didn't embarass myself in the parking lot at the dealer.

Y
ou know how when you're stuck in traffic and your foot gets sore from pushing in the clutch?
I do not know this feeling anymore. Traffic in Calgary is bad most any day so yeah I have an auto now.

The ol' aftermarket clutch I had in my last Mustang an 86GT was enough to make me not want to drive stick in Calgary anymore. I miss it, I mean the Hurst shifter I had on that GT was fantastic and I've had numerous manual tranny cars, but yeah I just didn't like having tendons in my left leg hurting after being stuck in a jam and crawling for an hour multiple times a week.

Good dodge on the ticket though.

Congrats Dustin on Evasion #5!!! Personally, I think it's the "EETDUST" plate that is getting the cops' donuts riled up.
