Dustin gets pulled over again part 7: The Downshift

Today I'm sitting in traffic forever trying to get on the highway. I finally get to the onramp. I was real aggrivated by the traffic for some reason. I get one the ramp, downshift, go sideways for about 40 feet then accelerate to 100. Well about 2 miles later I see a town cop right behind me. Ah $hit. I keep thinking to myself, this is the time I'm finally going to get a ticket, no getting out of this one. It went something like this.

cop comes up to the window
cop: do you know why I pulled you over
me: yeah
cop: *starts laughing*
me: uh
cop: I was waiting to turn left onto the ramp and I see you downshift right in front of me and go sideways. You left a patch 3 feet long back there and it took me 2 miles to catch up to you.
me: I did all that right in front of you?
cop: yeah I guess you didn't see me
me: nope
cop: this thing stock or what?
me: just intake and mufflers (LIAR)
cop: Just be careful out there, a lot of us are around and don't do that in front of any more cops.
me: ok
cop: Eat dust huh? (referring to my vanity plate) I'll catch up to ya!

wow, nice cop ay?

I have always been straight forward towards cops when I get pulled over, I've never gotten a ticket (accept for one with un-registered plates over a year due, but I showed up to court and the ticket wasn't even filed!)

Every time I pulled over I tell them exactly what I did wrong and I get out of it. Don't BS them, it's asking for a ticket.

Awesome story. I have the worst luck ever. If that were me, I'd be in jail, I'm sure. I just have that bad of luck.

I performed some exhibition style driving for my friends that were in a car ahead of me, in my 89 5.0L GT about 10 years ago. I also did it in front of 3 cops that were sitting there with their lights off. Shortly thereafter I was in the backseat, and was about to be hauled off for reckless driving, but I knew that this girl I worked with had a brother who was a cop. I name dropped...........got me out of it with a $40.00 noise violation ticket for sqealing tires.

That would have sucked.

That is a good stroke of luck.

Started driving in 83. I was pulled over 9 times in various Mustangs before I got my first ticket in my 69 Mach 1 (unsafe start). That was 1988. Got one more ticket in 89 (speeding). None since then...

Believe it or not, I got pulled over twice in the same week by the same cop back in 85. Somehow, I did not get a ticket either time.

I don't know Dustin but if I tried that getting onto 293 I would be in a heap of trouble. I spend about 30 min going 3 miles everyday just to get on the highway. By the time I get on the highway I want to hit the spray and pass everyone down the breakdown lane.

Heh that's funny. I was in Methuen on 28 getting onto 213 in front of the animal farm, the cop didn't catch up to me until I got on 93. You probably know right where that was

If you've got the loudmouths on, he probably heard you before he saw you lol. Must have put on quite a show for him and what the hell, the entertainment and thrill of the chase (not that he was even close lol) probably made his day! I've been pulled over twice so far and warned both times as well. I'm beginning to think the cops in NH really love Mustangs and they understand exactly where we're coming from.

Try that here, they were out in force with binoculars(for belts and stickers) and radar, saw 6 separate groups(two or more cars) ticketing on a 15 miles stint on one parkway, rainy sunday no less.

Well it was a MA cop but just the same. He did seem to enjoy chasing me and seemed frustrated that his car had no *****

You going to the Mustang car show in Nashua at the Technical College this sunday? I'll be there
