Driving with fogs on

When it's dark, I drive with the fog lamps on, not out of necessity, but out of habit. On two separate events now, another driver that I have passed has moved in behind me to flash their hi-beams into my rear view mirror. What's up with that?

Do these people think the fogs are the hi-beams? Are the fogs only allowed during foggy weather? whatev.

Depends on the state as far as the legality issue. People due it to me and I just flash them back. I assume they realize their mistake.

Its funny you mention the fog lights and all. The very 1st night I took my car home, I had an oncoming car flash me with his lights, thinking I had my hi-beams on (had my fogs on). I always drive with my fog lights on, and really never had any problems. Since I put in my SSE Center Mounted Fog Lamp Grill, I haven't had anyone flash their lights at me anymore. On a side note, in PA, my new grill is totally illegal (PA law states that fog lights must be 20 inches center to center). Still, haven't had anyone flash their lights at me with my new grill on. I always drive with them on, it helps me see better.

Fog lights are generally not to be used unless there is fog.

I just put a GT front bumper/fogs on my car. Since they have their own switch which I just leave on, whenever my lights are on my fogs are on. So far no problem.

But I have been in front of a GT at night with fogs on and if you both hit a hill just right those fogs will hit a rearview mirror and be quite bright.

I always drive with the fogs, they help visibility a lot, and they look badass too.

Thats why mine are driving lights.
I have been pulled over by the Police for failure to dim highbeams to oncoming traffic, but I just showed him what high beams were and what low beams with driving lights are. He didn't write me anything, then he wanted to talk about the car.

I drive with them on ALL the time and I get flashed frequently. When they flash me I just hit my brights and leave them on until I pass them. I'm sure they get the hint.

I like the added visibility the fogs give me, but I usually end up turning them off after being flashed a few times. Don't like feeling like I'm blinding everyone.

I don't flash people back if they flash me because more often than not they are just giving a heads up that there's a speed trap just past the bend.

The use of fog lamps is dependent on the State you live in.

Here in Washington State there is no mention of "inclement or foggy weather" in the regulations when it comes to fog lights.

The only limitations found in the law, other than on the height at which various lamps can be mounted on the front of a vehicle and on the height of the beam they project, is that no more than four lights can shine to the front at any one time and fog lights can be used only with one's low beams, not the high beams.

So, for WA state it's ok to run them 24/7 w/o highbeams.

The V6 Pony Fogs are probably less bright than the GT fogs, that's probably why no one seems to care when i have them on in my V6.

I use my fogs as well... They are much better than the junk they put on my 97 GT.

I put in amber tints, don't drive with them all the time, but in rain or fog the amber helps. I don't get flashed with them on either, still look bad.

The more I look at it, the more I think the GT's "fog lamps" are auxiliary driving lamps. Fog lamps are generally placed lower to the ground like on the GT500, or they are smaller like the V6 Pony package fogs. The big round reflectors on the GT's "fog lamps' make them appear like driving lamps.

I would tend to agree as my fog's really do help when driving in my dark neighborhood (no street lights). And they do look like regular light reflectors....

+2 - you "young" guys crack me up - but I'd be a liar if I didn't say they looked badass too

Only thing about using the fog lamps a lot is the lenses tend to fog up and I've never found a good way to clean then (the inside surface that is)....anyone found a way?

I do not think there is anything illegal abouut driving with fog lights on. They actually fill in nicely where the low beams do not. For visibility (not mine), I run my fog lights during the day as well ... of course stupid people still pull out when they should not in front of an approaching car.
