Driver's Seat Squeaks... Creaks

So my driver's seat is now making a squeaking sort of noise. Kind of sounds like a bed with bad springs.

I saw where a lot of you guys had that problem... any of you fix it?

Or am I doomed to have to listen to the squeak?

Find the mouse and kill it.

But seriously it's probably just the springs making noise. I know mine haven't been making any noise. How many miles are on your car?

The side of my driver seat touches the center console when I sit in it, causing a rubbing noise. I don't think there is a fix for that.

I also had a problem with the lumbar support. It would rub and squeak when I rocked the seat. Try to find out if the squeak goes away if you pump / deflate it (Ok there is no air in this but you get the idea!). The dealer fixed it by putting a piece of fabric between it and the seat internals.

I weigh 178 and have 5000 miles on my car. The car still has that new-car smell so this really is annoying.

I'll try the lumbar thing HolyPony thanks. Do you know if there's a way to put fabric in there without having to take it in?

Mine used to do this as well, then I played around with the inflate and deflate thing and it just went away.

My squeak goes away when I open the windows and stomp on the go pedal. Seriously, I just figured my squeaking seat would give me a reason to replace it with a seat with better support for racing anyway.

Another thing that can happen is the seat belt buckle rubs agaisnt the seat and makes an odd noise if you have leather, i might try to pad it some how to stop that, but now i just have to move the buckle back whenever i get in the car, you can see an indentation in the seat where it rests.

If it is coming from the seat back and sounds like foam on metal, it could be the foam pad rubbing on the seat frame. If this is the case, then removing the seat cover and the foam, and covering the seat frame with duct tape and/or the contact area in the foam pad might work. I had to have 2 seat back frames replaced in my '99 due to the seat back frame squeeking, which was more of a metallic sound. Sounded like a wore out mattress.

Well I tried the lumbar thing and that worked. I deflated it a little and no more squeak.

Thanks HolyPony

Gotta love Ford... quality is truly job 1.
