I hope this hasn't been asked before but probably with my luck it has...

Do any of you know (especially the ones who have actually been inside the new Mustang) if the center-armrest console-thing (I know I'm very specific) has a storage compartment inside? You know how in some cars they open up and you can store CD's (etc.) in them? My Cougar and my Jeep both have that, and I think it's very convenient. I was just wondering about that for the longest time...

I'm sure it does... There aren't too many cars out there today that don't have center consoles. Only the base civics, etc.

actually it's similiar to the sn95 console compartment with a power point inside. there is also a coin holder.

Ok, when they say the Shaker 1000 is 1000 watts and the Shaker 500 is 500 watts, does that mean that one subwoofer supplies an extra 500 watts?

I forgot to add it does look a tad more functional, but the power plug INSIDE the box is odd -- means you gotta' keep it open to use it outside the box. (I mean, who charges their cell in the car? Heat would s-u-c-k it dry and cells last days without charges anyways. AND you can't hear it in there)

My Mazda 6 has a small groove in the front edge of the bin that allows a cord to pass through while the lid is closed. I plug in my cel car charger in the storage bin and run just the end of the cord out the front. During my daily commute, I plug in my cel and let it charge. When the charger is not in use, the little pigtail hanging out the console is hardly noticable.

That's pretty cool, the cord pass-thru on your Mazda. Ok, I'll admit maybe the Mustang has something similar since Mazda is a Ford sibling. Must wait till I get my GT to verify (unless -- Gasp! -- someone has a photo, lol)

Looking at that pic, I don't see the pass-through like in my Mazda unless it's in the lid instead of the bin. I hope it's there too since I kinda like having the charger cord neatly stowed away in the console.

Almost certainly not. I imagine both systems are powered by similar amp. The 1000 is simply (in theory) capable of peaking at higher wattage, compliments of the trunk mounted sub (there is likely an additional amplifier to drive it as well). Also, be aware of how these "power" ratings are used. Most peak output ratings use a simple test tone. RMS wattage is a more "everyday" rating that will reflect how well any given set-up actually plays music. My home theatre sub, for example, has a dedicated amplifier capable of 750 watts peak output. RMS ratings are 250, however (more than enough to bring down my apartment complex )

In any event, it is substantively useless to think of the 1000 as making "twice" the power of the 500. It real world playback conditions, you will merely notice tighter, deeper bass response, lower distortion on bass heavy tracks, and better extension into the lower frequencies of the audio spectrum (the 8''s in the doors will be lucky to grab 38 Hz). With trunk mounted 10s you could get down to the low 30's, and possibly break into the high 20s though I wouldn't hold my breath)

I know there's a second plug up on the top, but surely it's meant (by popular demand, no less) for Radar detectors. This would keep the coil cord from interferring in front of the radio and stuff unlike the 99-04 generations.

Of course, if there HAS to be 2 power outlets, I would rather have one hidden than two exposed, so some ideas here are correct (I hate to admit), that it is in-fact pretty nice to have one hidden in the box. The coin slots rule too! My 1990 Ford Taurus had them and I've missed them the moment I got the 99' Stang.
