Do most Mustang GT's get modded their 1st year
I has a discussion with a fellow SRT8 owner the other day. He was insisting that his car was faster than a GT with a tune. My take on that was that it would be a close race.
Anyway, he makes the statement that most Mustangs don't get modded. I had to disagee, and in fact I told him that most GT's ARE probably modded even within the first year.
Would you agree with my statement, or was I off base?

Mine was modded within the first hour! Within 48 hours I had a complete suspension and wheels/tires. I can't speak for all, but I think a large majority DO get some sort of mod or another very early on.
I'd agree that most "GT"s are modded within the first year if not the first couple of months. I know I did. On average I think there's less modding with the V6 crowd. Sixer guys no offense but I'm sure you'll agree that on average GT's get modded more than the Ponies. Only reason I say this is because most (not all) people that buy a V6 only buy the car for looks and aren't real Mustang enthusiasts (I'm not talking about sixer guys on this forum, any other forum.) With that said I'm going to put on my flame suit now.
Mine was modded hours after I signed the paperwork, and I had more parts waiting in my garage for when she got home!
I think silvergt has a point. With the amount of concern about warranty, etc., I think its fewer than we think. I'd think 60%-70% are modded.
I agree that these sites are not representative of the general Mustang GT-buying population. I see alot of bone-stock GTs rolling around. However, I do think that significant percentage of Mustang buyers DO mod their cars right away. What that percentage is, I couldn't guess.
I started moding before I picked the Stang up. I had the dealer install new wheels before I even saw it. I brought it home and installed the axle-backs, and CAI the same evening. So, to answer your question... Yes!
As far as "show" type mods, I'd say yes, a majority are modded... As for "go" mods however, I'd say the percentage is considerably less.
I'd say less then 50% are modded....I went to my local dealer for their locally advertised car show....small show and mostly local guys....A couple of 05-07 showed up and most just parked and didn't display their cars...Once they looked at mine they had all kinds of questions as to what is that, and what does that do....I think some have never been on the internet...kind of funny in a way....

I picked mine up on 2/12/07. Mods so far: FRPP GTA mufflers, Wheels & tires, and BSM stripes. I figured I'd give it few thousand miles to make sure there were no issues before any performance mods. I'm at 3600 miles now so I'm ready to pull the trigger on the Bamachips CAI/Tuner. Then it'll be x-pipe, then 3.73 gears, then I'll lower it, then....
I had an exhaust, intake, and tune on order before taking delivery of mine. But the folks reading this forum are enthusiasts and it's not surprising that we won't keep our cars stock for long. There's probably a lot of mustang owners who don't care as much as we do for modding and will not read this kind of forums.
I had the dealer order my blower, install my gears and exhaust the minute it came off the car carrier with 2 miles on it.

Wow Leo can t believe you said that
When my car came in, I drove it once, as I have been waiting for it for 6 months. Once the tech took my car to prep it, he installed the Stingers. After that, I installed the MGW brake handle, aluminum pedals, and leather e-brake boot. Then after that, off to the body shop, where the stripes were painted, and Street Scene Ducktail were installed. Within a week, my car went from stock, to 10 mods.
