Disappointment...

I was planning on ordering my 2005 mustang GT on Saturday. Well I got a call from the Ford dealer today and he told me that there are 8 to 9 orders ahead of me on GT's and that they are only allocated 1 per month. So in effect they are sold out until 2006 MY.
I will start to call some other dealers in the area and see if they have the same story. If I can't find a dealer with less orders ahead of me or a bigger allocation I may have to wait for 2006 MY
Anyone else order in the last week or ordering soon? What has the dealer told you for a wait time??

you basically have two choices if you want an '05 GT then:
1) Find another dealer who doesn't have that kind of backlog so you can order one.
2) Find one on a lot. You can search yourself using the "Search Dealer Inventory" function on Ford's Mustang website page http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/mustang/ It works pretty well, although not every dealer's inventory is listed.

You wouldn't be the first person who had to road trip to get their car quickly.
Find one on a lot, make friends with the sales manager, and convince someone to drive you over.
If I remember, someone took a cheap flight to pick-up their car.
Just make sure everything is in order BEFORE you leave to get the car.

And check out the stripes and hoods! I knew dealers were doing that to the V6s to move them off the lot but why the GTs? So they can tack on a couple grand extra? Nice lineup. I can't even find a single one to test drive in my area!

There are dealers out there selling off the lot on x-plan. They're few and far between but it is possible to find one.

I placed my order that day (Oct 20) and got the car on Dec 27 (eight weeks).
I got my car at x-plan as well so I had to order the car to get the lower price.

If I were you, I'd contact "Karpro" he's a dealer in Upstate N.Y. who sells ALL his cars at $200.00 below invoice. It's not that far away!

I know of two GTs sitting in the used car lot at Cavalier Ford in Chesapeake, VA. One is a Sonic Blue I looked at it awhile back, it has IUP dark leather interior, 5 speed manual with bullits. The other is red but didn't look inside only saw that one while driving by today. Have no idea why they are in Cavaliers used car lot.

NO the Sonic Blue one has been on the lot for over two weeks. I just made a thread about the two cars. A responder found their website and it says they are asking a little less than $34,000.00 with 1000+ miles on it. They can keep it.
