Ouch.

I did this yesterday actually, while I was on a road trip to help my parents move... I was trying to get into a private garage with concrete walls on boths sides. I scraped the back wheel along the metal track that the gate uses to go up and down.

It's scraped up there as you can see from the pics. But it's also bent in a bit, right on that nice edge there above the wheel.

Since I'm a first time car owner, I don't really know what to make of it.

Taking her to the dealer tomorrow, they have a body shop..

Can something like this be fixed back to 100%? What kind of price would you expect to pay to get something like this fixed up?

Ouch! It can be fixed 100%. Around here I'd say it would cost you $4-500.

38Special, 1800, is that right? Wow, seems high.

4-5 is a bit more like what i would expect, but I am not an expert.

1000 sounds right. I damaged mine in the same area, it was dented too though ... They have to repaint that WHOLE piece to match the paint right, at elast with my Sonic Blue .... Was around 1500 for me

I did the same thing to my '99 on a fence. Then someone backed into it a year later and hit the other side in the same place. I think it costed about 1 grand each time. The bodyshop I deal with fixed it both times. Noone has ever noticed the repairs. Sometimes I forget the incidents ever happened, and I spend a lot of time looking at the car.

It certainly can be fixed.

The whole quater panel will have to be painted.

You do not want to break the paint on an open surface.

An honest body man should be able to do this for between 600-800 USD.

BTW. I feel your pain. It looks worse than it is though.

Have you checked with the insurance company?

I have a "stupid stuff" rider. It's called comp. I have gotten vehicles fixed for dropping shovels on them, running over stuff in the driveway etc.
Don't hurt to check.

Sorry to hear about your damaged pony. The good news is it should be a relatively simple repair. I've heard it's easier to repair cars with a solid finish, opposed to ones with metallic finishes. I think it's because they don't have to blend it as carefully with the surrounding body panels. Or maybe it's because it's hard to match the amount of metallic flake in the original finish. Put simply, solid colors are more forgiving than metallics. I dread damaging my Legend Lime finish!

Hope your pony is mended soon!

Yeah we did an insurance claim for mine.

Most of the money was labor though, spending so much time taking off that piece, sanding it down, repainting the whoel thing, popping the dent. It was liek a 4 day repair ...

Thats mine ... you can see the dent ... and the small scratches all the way up (that went past that picture frame even)

Now i dont know the deal with black paint, but they had to do the whole piece of car to match and blend the paint right.

Ok, I gotta ask. Why were you trying to get your car into such a small opening.
