thanks! I aim to please!

I'm still worried about wheel/tire widths on the '05 platform . . . stockers will be 8" wide but I don't see any room for more than a 9" or 9.5" wide rear . . . . the wheel wells/tubs in the rear are very small . . . the rear lower shock mount is very close to the back of the brakes . . . and the 8" wheels are basically flush with the body work

I can't find the picture someone posted of the underside of the roto-display that showed the spring pocket and fender well/tub . . . it really showed how narrow it is

sorry to ramble but it's really bothering me . . . . . . anyone else see this? or am I just crazy?

Yeah, but the 18s are 18x9s...and they fit.

Don't forget ...when you get the extra inch...no one says it has to be on the INSIDE of the rim.

If you take a look at the 18x9 (255/45ZR18s) they fit nicely...and thats because the rim bows out towards the outside.

Not to worry. Obviously aftermarket companies will be making rims for it, and you know Ford will have at LEAST 275s on the 'cobra'...so I wouldn't worry.

NOW..throwing a wider tire on the stock 17x8 may be a problem as to the way its setup. That could be an issue

Wow those pics are disturbing. If you think about a stock 245/45/17 rear tire on a stock wheel, it's tucked up deep inside on '94+ models. But here you have a 235(?) tire and it's darn near flush with the body. I do agree that we'll all have to wait and see what the aftermarket can come up with, but my hopes of putting 315's on the back of the '05 are diminishing

I think the 18x9 rim with 255 BFG's are the perfect setup. Plus, you know it will work.

Could go 275, but then were talking more expensive tires, wider rims etc?? I'm not sure I'd go that route even if I bought aftermarket rims...humm.

personally I think a 17in rim with 255 width would be a better performer then the heavier 18in wheel

I like my factory bulliett wheels. That being said what is the widest tire I could fit on the car? What size should I get so the speedo is still acurate? Any tire recommendations?

My mom's 65 fastback(not a GT just an ol' 289 two barrell C-code) has 205 wides. So i can't complain the if 05's tires are skinny or not but 255's would look great!

Some people say you can fit 275s, but 255/50s look perfect and hardly affect your speedo. Several members of the board have put on these 255s and posted pics.

Since the tire is already flush with the body, what offset would you guys recomend on the 18's? (255/45/18)
+45 will put the wheel 13mm out farther. (and 13mm in farther)
