If so, did the dealer give you a good amount of money, since alot of us are paying MSRP for their car. I would think they have ALOT of negotiating room since they are making a killing off these Mustangs. I'm curious, what did ya'll get for your trade in relation to the internet values posted as "trade-in" by Edmunds, KBB, NADA, ect. I'm wondering if I should even bother asking them to appraise my car for trade. Seems like in Atlanta, the dealers offer much LOWER than the internet trade-in prices suggest(this is for a regular car purchase...I haven't been to Ford about the trade.)

On the previous deal I had working that didn't go through, I had an X-plan price on the Mustang and was able to get 300 over clean trade-in value from KBB.com's website for my 2002 Accord Coupe. That was about where I expected to be. I did have to shop other dealers to get the trade value up.

The dealers I have dealt with have always tried to steal my trade-in. A common trick for them is to show you a print-out of the bluebook value of your car from the internet. You must look closely at this because they usually don't input any add-ons and they will commonly add thousands of miles to reduce the value. I have a Yukon 4x4 and both times I have tried to trade it, the dealers have printed out the value based on a 2 wheel drive Yukon. I bet this kind of trick works all the time on unsuspecting people.

The Honda dealer who offered me more for it, said it would bring whatever Edmunds said it would, but the dealer who I was working with wouldn't offer it at first, so it pays to shop around. I really think the dealers hate these sites because they present a real value of your car and help to eliminate another variable in the sales process. If you know the value of your trade going in to the dealer, it is a valuable bargining tool.

i did not trade in. HoweverI've had fair results selling a car to carmax, but as always if you want to get the most $$ out of your car, you have to sell it yourself.

I'll be taking in printouts from kbb, edmunds, and nada. Kbb is generally much lower than the other two. Because my car is coming in so early, I'll probably have no choice but to trade it in. I'm hoping to convince them that they owe me a little for delivering the car 2 1/2 months earlier than I asled. In any case, if they offer me clean kbb value, I'll be good to go. Having the printouts helps make sure that they know that you are aware of the vehicles value.

I was going to trade-in my T-Bird. It had a KBB trade-in value of $2000 (and a private value of $3500). But the dealer said he would give me $800. So I am going to sell it later.

I am trading in my 2003 Jeep Liberty Renegade. Dealer is really tearing me a new one on the value of my Jeep so I am trying to sell it privately before my car arrives next week. They won't budge on the price because I am getting the X-Plan.

My dealer offered me next to nothing for my Mercedes C230 saying that it was a Ford dealership and they could not sell a Benz. So I sold it privatly and got $3000 more then they offered me.

Hey There,

I traded an 02' Mini Cooper and was allowed 15,300 for it. That was below KBB, but only because it had body damage. Although the repairs made it impossible to detect, most dealers run a carfax on every trade. I acknowledged it had been hit in a parking lot, and that lowered the value of my trade-in $1,200. That was a HUGE blow to me, since I owed nearly $16,00 on the car. Having an X Plan kept me right-side-up and out of the GAP insurance mode.

I don't feel good about the trade, but I was SO GLAD to get out of the Mini Cooper that I would have accepted much less. That car was a nightmare for me.

I traded my 03 vert gt in for my 05 gt. I got less than I wanted but not enough to stop me when he added 500 for my nearly new tires. Yes I took a 1000.00 bath but I drove out of the lot with what I wanted 3 weeks ago.

In 02 when I bought my other Stang, I did not trade in my Ranger, and 4 months later I finally sold it for what I could have traded it in for when I bought my 02.

Time is worth money too.
