Depreciation

Go to Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com) and see what a 2003 Mustang is worth in 2004. Then go to Ford Direct (www.forddirect.com) and see what a similarly equipped 2004 is worth. Find the % difference and there's a ballpark figure to look forward to.

Fords = bad resale value in almost every catagory. It's not even worth thinking about. Perhaps this one will surprise us, but I'm not going to count on it.
My 5 year old Escape XLT was $26,000 new and is worth about $10,000 today. Talk about depriciation!

How do you have a 5 yr old Escape? The first model year was 2001.

Well i dont quite have my funds in order to buy now, but what do you think an 05 (GT, black, red interior w/IUP) will cost in about 4 years?

They do REAL good. One of the reasons I got my 04 F150 4x4 for $140 a month on a 2 year lease--great residual value!
I bet these stangs will have a pretty good resale value (for a mustang).

Typically the average car will lose half its value in the first 4 years.

Unfortunately a new Mustang is not nec. a good fiscal move, as Fords typically don't have great resale value. However, if demand for the restyled model remains reasonably strong and Ford does not have to resort to huge incentives on new ones then resale might not be too bad. But at this point it is really too early to tell.

I would guess its an 03? anyway one never could trade in a one or two year old vehicle with out loosing an arm and leg over the deal. That is why people turned to leasing. Then leasing financers turned into pigs. So now I just keep them till the lost slows down. Plus the reason not to over pay for any vehicle. Unless your money comes fast and easy.
