I dont know how many people are doing this, but I was pretty happy when my dealer Fleet Manager called me this morning.
He told me that they like to make the delivery of certain orders an all out event for the customer. He has been calling me anytime my oder has an update. He is going to keep very close tabs on everything, and then when it arrives, I get to be there for offloading, (if the truck comes in at a decent hour) and help unwrap it. They are going to me be a part of the delivery inspections, all of it. He also is going to save all the paperwork, stickers etc for my car.
He told me they did it for a couple people when they got the 99. When he comes across a customer that is as excited as I am about my order, they make it as special as they can. The only thing he cant do is get me pictures of my car coming down the production line, but agreed that would be a very kewl addition.
I am getting my car from RSM Ford in Rancho Santa Maragarita, CA. They are putting up with a VERY annoying customer (me!) and are so patient and accomadating, I couldnt be happier.
I hope a lot of dealerships are doing this.
Forgive me if this is common practice, I have never ordred a car before in my life, and am pretty excited about this!

I have purchased many first of type cars over the years. I have never had or heard of this level of service to a customer. The only thing that might be better is the Corvette museum delivery but that costs $800.

Most exceptionally cool. If they deliver on these promises, a complimentary letter to the regional Ford rep would be a much appreciated thanks you, I bet.

Wow, couldn't believe this when I read it. I'm sitting here worried that I won't get calls when they get here and this guy's going to have a PARTY. Truly amazing.

Not to be a poop, but isn't that one of the dealers that had the MSRP+ ebay auction?

When I was shopping around, I spoke to them over the phone and they laughed about the idea for purchasing this car for anything below MSRP. They didn't sound as good as mentioned in this thread.
All I can say to the starter of this thread, is congrats and enjoy your experience, I wish I could get that.

I decided to stop in to the lot yesterday & me dealer told me that HOPEFULLY I would get my Mustang at the end of October. I haven't been given a VIN but he said that the guy who ordered it might have one. Guess I better see him tomorrow & get that info. He did confirm that I was the first one to order one at the dealership & I would get my first. The only party my dealership will have when mine comes in will be for themselves to celebrate getting me out of their hair. I think they take pictures of every new car & the owner. If I trade in my 2000 Mustang, I'm gonna see if they will let me take one with my 05, the 2000 & my 1968.
ENJOY YOUR PARTY!!!!
