Kevin,
Grew up in Clatskanie. Will be bringing my 'stang by in Feb. to show my mom. On my way up to Sonohmish to get it custom painted.
I called my dealer here in California and told them specifically not to put any badge on my car, with the exception of the rear lisence plate frame. I told them not even to drill out the dimples on my front bumper.

Speaking of tuff cops. In the Napa Valley we have 1 CHP camero that patrols the road. Yesterday he crossed in front of me in a 4 way stop. I turned right and ended up following him. I kept seeing his face in all of his mirrors and then he pulled over real sharply. I drove past him, below or at the speed limit. My wife said as I drove past he was really checking out the car. He pulled in right behind me for 100 yards, then I put on my turn signal and turned left. I bet he was real dissapointed.
2 cars ago, I bought a used sunbird. I wouldn't sign the paperwork until they removed the dealer badge. The salesman thought I was kidding until I grabbed my wife's hand and said we'd go across the street and by one and left his office. They removed it and we ended up buying it.

Here in Longview, a dealership may give you a license plate frame with their dealership name on it (hoping you might use it).

What if it was Purchased From CARROL SHELBY MOTORS would you leave that one on? I would.

no. thats why there is a bill of sale. if i wanted to show anybody where i got the car from thats what i would show them. also told my dealer not front plate mounted , no rearend sticker.
There's a dealership in our town that makes sure their emblems stay on your vehicle. We bought a truck there and removed it.... its a big, fat, red strawberry! Every time we took it in for service it came back with that darn strawberry on the tailgate. The same thing happened to his parents. Remove strawberry, take in for service, return with yet another strawberry.
Requesting it not be applied did no good.

This isa really important point to make. They are not always stickers. When I talked to my dealer about not putting on the "sticker", he said "Its not really a sticker, we use screws". I looked at some of the mustangs on the lot and sure enough there were two screws used to attatch this thing on with.
I thank god every day that I had the fore thought to ask them to leave it off. I can't imagine how mad I would have been if they had drilled in to my trunk to attatch a commercial. And by the way, the ad they use is HUGE.
Bottom line: Don't expect your dealership to use an easy to remove sticker. Ensure that they know that you don't want there ads on your car!

I've had luck removing the plastic emblems by pulling off the plastic part. It's held on with a two-sided piece of foam tape. Once the plastic is off, I used hot water from the tap to soften it up, then used my fingers to roll back the tape and pull it off.
If you're going to try to take one of those stickers off, the sooner the better. If it has a chance to really set up, there is a lot more residue from the tape left on the paint.

It might sound crazy, but I've found WD-40 helps remove glue residue from stickers, decals, emblems, what have you. Just spray a little on a rag and wipe it until the glue beads up. Then it wipes right off. I'm not sure if the agents in WD-40 will hurt the finish, so the best thing to do afterward is to hit the area with soapy water and a good rinse, followed by a buff dry. It's worked for me...
Folks that order their 'Stangs have a better chance of avoiding the sticker/badge issue. They can ask their salesperson to make sure the make ready guy or gal leaves it off. They removed one from a car I bought in dealer stock and never affixed one to a car I ordered. What others have said rings true, hold the dealer accountable if the paint is damaged in the process of removing the badges.
I understand why a dealer would want their name to appear on every unit they unload, but I think they should ask the customer if they mind first. What bothers me most is that some dealers make their customers pay marketing fees and gross receipts taxes (the latter goes toward paying for the dealership's license to sell!). In Virginia (and perhaps elsewhere), they also charge a "processing fee," which is money they collect for basically doing their job! It varies from $79 to $399 (probably more at dealerships selling more expensive cars).

Mine came with it on it. The dealer sticker was the last thing on my mind with the car comming in almost 2 months early. It is more of a rubberish badge then a sticker. I kinda want to remove it but don't want to damage the paint. Think a hair dryer and dental floss will work?

The hot air from a hair dryer shouldn't hurt your finish. Never thought of dental floss. I assume you mean the waxed variety. That too, should work without injuring the finish. Good idea! I guess the only other thing you should do is take your sweet time. No point in rushing the job and incurring damage. Good luck with it.
