Dealer changed me to 18R package
I ordered a my redfire, light graphite leather with IUP and got a DORA on 11-19-04. spoke to dealer yesterday (havent heard anything in 8 weeks). He stated he spoke with his ford dealer rep concerning this and they stated they have no idea how long the IUP delay would be, could be another couple months or never.
My dealer then went on to say that in order for them to ensure that they get the car, the car would have to be built with IUP "lite". this affected my order as well as my friends and every other person ordering from their dealership, believe he said about 10 people have one on order from him, all got changed.
He did state that he would keep me up to date and my car should now be scheduled very soon, with delivery potentially being late February, early march, (which seems like a record almost 5 months to get this car). If I do not like the IUP lite, I am not obligated to the car and they will just sell it. I guess I am going to wait and see what it looks like in person and go from there.

18R package changed me a new dealer.... or it should you. <_< That's just utter
Dealer's just trying to get a faster sale for whatever reason.
Don't let them strong-arm you into getting something you don't want.

There seems to be plenty of IUP orders being built in January and from what we've been seeing, February should be a better month. Now it's always possible that the dealers switched our 18G to 18R without telling us... I could see that happening to one or two... but I can't see that happening to everyone who has posted they got a build date since Jan. 1. Sounds like a like the dealer wants to get his money faster.

ANY dealer that changes your order without asking is way out of line :notnice: Now with the IUP lite if you change it ,...it will start the process all over again !
I suggest you get a new D.O.R.A. to see when this bozo :clown: did this and go from there.
Sam - I presume you did not order your car with either side airbags or the ICAP which require IUP. Dealers would have to reorder without those two options if they switched from IUP to IUP light on a car that had been originally ordered with either airbags or red leather.

Guys, believe my friend and I are pretty upset about it (as a lot of you are). This whole issue is BS, and I wish we really did know the facts about the situation (the real story is only known by some ford execs IMO). For my situation, I may speak to some other dealers and see the situation, but then I lose my spot in line again and it will be another 3-5 months before I see a car. That is all based on the assumption that they will build with IUP. Like I said, the dealer said he would change it back to IUP, but he stated that the Ford Rep said they have know Idea when this issue will be resolved.
Hate to say it, but I am really considering getting something else.

Better to wait the extra 3-5 months for what you want than to own something you don't like for 3-5 years.
Understand the impatience of the situation... there's always the GTO, 350Z or RX-8 if you want something new. <_<

The IUP problem will most likely be with us for the rest of the model year. However, the IUP is not cancelled. Indications are around a 30% installation rate, which probably means sold orders covered, but very little ground stock.
Stay with the IUP if you can wait a couple of months.
The good news is that you will be able to get a non-IUP Mustang real quick.
With the restrictions on the IUP and orders still needing to be submitted, I would think any dealer could get you an ISP Mustang built first or second week of February.
Well, I heard today from my dealer: "commodities report shows 0% again, for the 1st week of February" So, no IUP GT's being built again, at least for another week!
This really $ucks for Everyone. Nothing like sitting here, wondering if 8-12 weeks later, we'll still be in the same exact spot? :bang: Man I hope not! I'd love to see my new Stang in the garage by 4/1!
Dave...

Giddyup/Kevin: I don't have a car yet to show-but my status did change from "scheduled to be built" to "shipped by convoy carrier". It would seem that mine was built with IUP this month. I am hopeful anyway.
