I had a 1999 GT and had to sell it but I am now back in the market for another GT. I have been hearing and noticing that a still new 2004 GT will be reduced at least $6000 off MSRP. I am just trying to decide if I should "steal" one of the 2004 models or pay sticker or more for a new 2005. I guess I could at least keep the 2004 for 2 to 3 years until the dealers start discounting the new body style. I am assuming that the 2005 WILL NOT be sold under sticker. Any advice or suggestions would be helpful. THANKS.

Most of them don't come down that much anymore. In August they had $2000 dealer cash, and a dealer could dock them down $2000 under invoice and a $2500 rebate. Right now the $2500 is all they offer, so about $4000 off is normal(including freight).

Yea, but aren't rebates and dealer cash sometimes different among the Ford sales regions?

Maybe in your region they pulled off the dealer cash because you've sold off most of the '04s. But in his region they are still worried that they have too many left.

But dzeppfan77, a 2004 is not much different than your 1999. The 05 is greatly improved. Think long and hard if in a year or so you'll be wishing that you held out for the '05.

Its usually pretty much nation-wide on larger ones. There are smaller stair-step ones that require a certain number of vehicles sold for local cash plans. Dealers can not rely on them(unless its a big seller like F-series), so they dont give it away. I would go with an 05. You are talking maybe 100 in payment per month, its less then you think. You just need to prioritize, thats about $3 a day, skip the Starbucks.

That's a good point, Kev. Kinda puts the payment into perspective.

You should be a salesman.

At the local Ford dealer where I live (Rancho Ford), they are marking the 04 mustangs (V6 & GT) with almost 5k off the MSRP. I've also heard of some people who bought GTs there for less than 20k. Seems like a good deal.
Just makes me wanna trade in my 6 for an 04 GT....but then again, I'll be stuck with payments for an SN95 for 7 years instead of 5, two more years extra. Just means I can't get new stang till at least 2009/2010.

I agree. I thought about a '04 Cobra because they were discounting them so much. I decided to wait for the 05/06 and get a much better car.

I compromised -- I bought a used 03 Cobra with 3000 miles for $23.9k. That way I can have my fun while I wait for the 2007 Cobra, and I won't be upside down in two years. I don't regret it one bit either, the first time I wrapped it up and that Eaton blower kicked in, I nearly shat myself ... what fun!
