Dead Battery? [Poll]

I personally have not had this issue *knock on wood* However, I'm curious how many of this "dead battery" group has the Shaker stereo and/or factory alarm system?

I do not have the shaker, and my subwoofer amp turns off when the key is not in the "ON" position. I do have the factory alarm, but haven't noticed any issues from that.

[I purposely did not include the Non-Dead battery without Shaker stereo, like my setup, as those do not really apply to this poll]

I have the shaker 500 and have never had a problem with the battery. But I also have never gone longer than 1 week max without driving it or having a battery tender hooked up.

Same here, althought I did leave the car in the garage for 4 weeks at a time when I was on holiday and didn't even have a slow start afterwards. Never disconnected the battery either since I got the car (June '05).

I'm wondering if a bunch of people got a bad series of batteries, or if some of these cars just use extra juice... I've had my car 3+ years and it's gone up to 2 weeks without starting with no battery issues.

I've gone 2 weeks without starting the car as well. But I do believe that after two weeks, the battery "labors" to start the car.

My guess is a mix of both.

Mine is a daily driver. The battery still went south on me in about a two week period. Replaced under warranty. No problems since.

Not dead yet, but...

I did not take the poll, because I am waiting ... yesterday, I went out to start the car, after she sat for several days, in the garage, in sub-zero outside temps. I turned the key, received two "clicks" and then she started, very reluctantly.

I let her idle for 20 minutes, with everything shut down and returned her to the garage. I won't take her out as the roads are still snow covered and icy...which also means the maniacs are out (two accidents on the Interstate within a mile). I was in the Jeep.

Anyhow, this afternoon, I went out and tried to start her. I received one "click" and the a start, again very slowly.

So, I am waiting the day when she will not start, and then I will fill out the poll ... right after I call Ford.

I have the Shaker 500 and the alarm system, however, both are off in the garage, as its alarmed. I also park her with the e-brake off, and the 5 sp in neutral.

I have never had a car do this. My last company car (not a Ford) was parked outside at 30 to 40 below zero and started every time for three winters.

My 97 Cobra would sit in the garage for several weeks between drives, and never had a dead battery.

Anyone know where these battery's were manufactured? Are they a U.S. product?

Battery tender on order..

I have an '05 with the alarm system and I've left my car for weeks at a time with no issues even with the motion sensors on. However last Fall I left her parked with cd's in the shaker 500 and about 1 week later the battery was dead. I got her jump started and drove to the dealer and the bastards charged me for an electrical test - and said "No problems found however disconnect battery if leaving vehicle for prolonged periods of time" 1 week?

My battery was dead after the car sat for 2 weeks. I usually drive it every weekend but it's been raining alot lately.

It helps to have all accessories turned off before your turn off the motor. That way you will have less power loss when trying to start your car.

Mine has went dead once, and near death twice. Batteries are never the same after that. I replaced it on my on, screw the dealer. Interstate battery at cost ftw! I can tell the car cranks alot faster now.

When you turn the key to start it turns off all the accesories anyway. I never understood the reasoning of people that turn the fan off, radio off, etc when they shut the car off.

My 05 with Shaker 1000 would have a dead battery if I did not start it in a week. My 06 Shaker 500 had no problems and My 1st 07GO/GT and now 07/GT/CS no problems at all.

I'm not sure that is true but I won't agrue with you over it. I thought if these accessories were on they were drawing power when starting the car?

Try it. Turn the key to start w/o the clutch in so it actually doesnt turn the starter, leave the blower on, radio on, and if Im not mistaken, even possibly the interior lights will go off. Not positive on the interior lights tho.

You can do this with the clutch engaged and start it, but might be hard to hear the blower over the engine cranking.
