check your fluids, tire pressure, and of course your motor you need to check your 0-60 and your burn out skills then clean the car up and hit the roads

Weather here isnt bad so I drive it every day. Make sure all your fluids are up to par and change the oil.

I changed the oil the day I put it away. Do you think it needs to be changed when I pull it out for the first time this spring ??

If it has not been run since you put it away, no problem, you would just be wasting oil. If you ran it a few minutes every week or something like that, change it. The oil will get water in it, and could be nasty for your engine. When it only runs for a few minutes (less than 20) the oil never really gets hot enough to burn off the moisture that accumulates in it from cold startup.

I decided on not starting it all winter, and I just putting the charger on it once a week for about 24 hours. I think the oil should be nice and clean, I will run it as is.

A little trick I learned once from a mechanic friend of mine is if the engine has not been run in a long time, all the oil has drained to the pan and nothing is left sticking to the engine parts. To compensate, pour a little oil into the engine at the filler cap and let it drain down into the engine for about 30 seconds before you start it. Doesn't need to be much, maybe 1/4 quart or even less. Just enough to get some liquid on some parts, you know?

It's not perfect, but it is better than nothing.

So what happens to the other cylinder head?
You could pull the fuse for the ignition and crank the motor over several times. But modern synthetics and synthetic blends should give a decent enough boundary film on the rotating parts, and flow quick enough after startup to lube all of the parts.

Like I said, it's not perfect, but it is better than nothing. 5 seconds without oil is 5 seconds too long if you ask me.

We have a 5 year powertrain warranty. Besides, if you're out of warranty and your engine manages to wear out because of cold starts like this, it would be a good time to beef up the internals and add a supercharger.

I have read that you should change the oil after storing for a while. For example see: http://www.teammiata.com/libs/Winter_Storage_Tips.htm
Looking forward to getting mine out, hopefully in a few weeks.

The long term forecast is looking good up here in Toronto

If it keeps up, I will put my car back on the road by the end of the month. Hopefully we a few good rains to get the salt off the road. This is the worst part when storing the car... waiting for the chance to get it on the road.

As for the oil, I had it changed right before I parked the car, I really see no point changing it again. The plan once I pull the car out is to clean the air filter, check the tire pressures, take it on a long drive and get everything nice and warm, then give it a thorough wash and detail. Then go for another drive

I keep my car in a nice warm garage, out of the elements. When the roads were clear, I would get her out and take it for a ride, just to get a run in her. Now, once the weather gets warm here in the SE region of PA, car will come out, and get a nice bath, and 2 coats of wax!! Then I'm all ready for the GOOTC run to Maryland International Raceway on the 24th of March!!! As it stands now, 65 Mustangs heading down I-95 in a convoy!!! Should be over 100 at the track at the show! I can't wait!!
