Does anyone know where I can get a custom key fob made? I am hoping to have something done similar to the Audi and VW keys that have the key and remote transmitter as one unit.

My wife has a Touareg, and I love that her key snaps out like a knife from within the remote transmitter. The whole unit when folded is tiny.

I have the remote build onto my Accord key. It's another one of the little things I'll miss moving to the Stang. I'd like to know if there is an aftermarket company out there that offers such a thing as well.

You can still get custom keys. You just have to give them the code and they can cost quite a bit of green.

The '04 Mazda RX-8 had a key and seperate fob...i guess enough people complained about it because the '05 has a "flip" key/fob. Maybe we'll get lucky for '06.

I love the VW's switchblade key. All VW's after '99 have the flip style switchblade key, and it is so nice to have the remote/key all in one. For our current car 2004.5 Jetta GLi, I found a leather case for the key to keep it protected and it has a clip with you can use on your belt/purse. I wish I could do this with the Mustang keys because the keys my hubby carries are getting thrashed. The plastic seems soft, and in his pocket with other keys they are getting dinged up. Maybe they could make a metal piece or something to slide over the soft plastic.

the Stang Keys have like rubber on the top portion, and mine is all chewed up already, just from normal use. I have new fobs, because I have an aftermarket alarm.

The older keys had like hard plastic on the top, and they didnt get so messed up. I would like to make another key, but with the chip in it, it would be a problem.

I discovered a very inexpensive solution for "customizing" our keys. If anyone would like instructions please feel free to contact me.

I wanted one too. I couldn't find one so I made one myself. It's a shame that I never took a pic of it. It's been 3 weeks since I finished and it's in need of a new paint job. I carved 2 pieces of wood, on one side I carved the the key outline and on the other side I the outline of the guts of the transmiter. Thank god the buttoms from the remote came in one rubber piece so I just made the holes on the wood in the same place and transfered everything.

I will post some pics as soon as I take them.

Diego.
