Critic's Corner 3
Here we go again. If you had to totally bone one apsect of the '05 Mustang, knowing that the sacfrifice would allow Ford to make the rest of the car better, what would you give away? By better I'm assuming a substantial improvement, but you can use what criteria you wish.

Price, I'd pay more to get more
Price, I'd pay more to get more
Price is one of the Mustangs biggest selling points (to me anyway).
I voted room, preferably trunk space, as I rarely use the trunk for anything.
Let's all be glad this poll is just hypothetical. Thank God we don't have to sacrifice anything!! :worship:
Which aspect of the '05 Mustang would you sacrifice to make the rest of the car better?
Weight
Handling
Acceleration
Top Speed
Materials Quality
Physical Size
Looks/Sound
Room (passenger or trunk)
Price
Weight
Handling
Acceleration
Top Speed
Materials Quality
Physical Size
Looks/Sound
Room (passenger or trunk)
Price
I don't think there is one thing in that list that I would want to sacrifice, the 2005 seems perfect as-is
Top speed. 120, 150, 200+ means nothing to me. As for price, I'm figuring a GT with leather might set me back $32K. If they raise it much more than that you're looking at a different class of vehicle as alternatives.
Top speed - I'd rather be able to accelerate faster to a slower top speed than accelerate slower to a faster top speed.
Weight - the lighter the better.
Handling - essential for so many things - especially safety - best defense is a good offense. Although it has to do it in a Mustang fashion. live axle in the rear please. stand IRS on all models doesn't appeal to me at all.
Acceleration - American as apple pie
Top speed - eh, its a rush, but its no biggie. Give me a car that rockets to 130 or 140 and I'm happy.
Material Quality - interior materials I'm not to picky about although a concerted effort to produce shoody 80's era GM like interiors does make me raise an eye brow, but cheap mechcanical crap burns me up fer sure.
Physical size - don't turn my beloved mustang into a short wheelbase lincoln town car please. Mustangs are small sporty sedans.
Looks/Sound - a lesson GM has yet to learn IMO. A car is the sum of its parts, every aspect is intergal to the vehicle and sound is a big part. and a Mustang that doesn't sound like a mustang ain't got no soul.
Room - A mustang is a sporty sedan - there is no such thing as a minivan or SUV called mustang. It is what it is. A sporty 2+2 sedan with a long hiid and short deck with just enough trunk space to get away for the weekend.
Price - like the man said. Mustang has to be a very scalable plateform. with entry level cars that are comparatively cheap to purchase to mustang super cars that people are willing to plunk down big bucks for. To be frank, I dont want a 50,000 dollar mustang. I dont care if it could put a ferrarri enzo on the trailer at that price. a 50,000 dollar mustang is beyond my grasp so it isn't useful to me and it is essentially a pipe dream at that price no matter what sort of content it has.

Except top speed (sacrifice the trunk space!! j/k)
Hey to each his own!
have to agree with bob's post in general...for me number one priority is price and quality of materials in the interior....they seemed to have gotten the size right...the weight is a bit on the high side, but when you consider what the feds require for safety sake, it's hard to keep the weight down AND the price down...it's easy to reduce weight...it's another matter to do it and keep the cost down.
as far as performance...i want lot's of punch off away from the stop light..plenty of torque...don't really care about top end...just let that light run green and see what happens!! jackg 90seville 94k
