No doubt about it vetts are nice. But comparing suspension between the 2 cars is like apples and oranges. $25- 30k for a mustang gt and 45 to 55k for a new vette.

 

With stock tires I had some scary lane changes at 100mph.

Not anymore with a wider, 255/50/r17 wheel at all 4 corners.

The only distraction at 110 mph the other day, was the sweet sound of my motor humming its sweet tunes. :worship:

 

im sure if u pumped another 30k into a mustang GT to make it cost the same as you Z06 it would absolutely dominate it in every possible way

Well, actually I have never owned a C5, but I have driven 2 of them.......not long drives, but driven nonetheless..... I thought these 2 rattled/squeeked noticbly. I am axious to see the new C6 however, since it is supposed to be shorter/smaller. I think for a 2-seater, the Corvette just got a little too big for my liking over the last several years.

 

i've had a 2003 mach 1,and 2 2001 GT's and all those cars would loosen my fillings when I hit a bump,dip or pothole.MY 2005 GT is so much better at dealing wih road irregularities that its not even a close comparison.JMO

 

A "real" SUV would have a fairly harsh ride, too. These soccer mom SUVs are tuned for a comfy ride over speed bumps at the mall.

 

When I test drove the 05 I didn't notice it being that bad. Maybe because I was to excited to be in the driver's seat. I'm guessing my new stang probably won't ride as nice as my f150. That thing rides like a luxury car. Ford really got the f150 right this time It's simply the best truck ever (well besides the new super duty).

Some how I don't think I'll care to much about the ride. I am going to be having to much fun cruising around on a hot sunny day!

 

I for one like the handling of the new 05 very much. It exceeds every expectation that I had for it. Roger - did you buy the 05 ? I am curious because it seems that you are not very happy with one of the more important aspects of it.

 

I don't doubt that it is, but Chevy has an extra 30k of your dollars to make it that way. If the Stang was priced the same, then it'd be a good comparison, but as it stands, I'll take the harsher than Z06 ride and bank the 30k.

Don't even get me started on insurance. Sometimes I think I should just get hitched for the discount.

But seriously, would you rather have a soft mushy supsension? People drive Mustangs for the sporty feel, if they want to drive a car that glides on air, then can get one. For the price, I think that the 05 Mustang not only handles better but has a nicer overall ride than the outgoing model. Granted I don't have the pleasure of driving one everyday, but my test drives have assured me that they did just about as good as humanly possible with the live-axle.

 

I like my Mustang just fine thank you. Have owned 3 Vettes and rode in my friends 05 Vette. They are nice cars too. Friendly drivers as they are always waving!

 

If you want a better ride put the v6 wheels on I'm sure someone would trade.
