I know Karpro has taken orders for about 5 convertibles. For those of you that have actually ordred and put down a deposit, what feedback, if any, have you gotten regarding 'proposed' delivery date?

And, what's the ratio V6 to GT?

[QUOTE]Hi All,
New guy to the forum here. I just placed an order for 05 GT Convertible on 1/8/04. I hit 5 dealers for pricing and got (3) MSRP only, (1) We'll wait to see what market will bear, and $1,000.00 over invoice. Guess which one I took!! My question to the forum is simple. I was told by the dealer I placed the order with that it would be 8-12 weeks after Job 1. I was also told it would be June or July and it would be titled as an 06 because of all the building delays by another dealer. I did get the IUP. I also thought Ford wold build customer orders before stock orders. Is this true??

No, they don't fill customer orders first. I found this out waiting most
of a year for my Mach 1 to be delivered.

I ordered one on 11/6 GT With IUP. I am going tomorrow to get a printed copy of the dealer satus report and another updated copy of my DORA to make sure there are no changes and I'm still priority 10.

I had the first and only vert ordered by this dealer.

Last update I had was from first week of December that had MATL HOLD on the status.

I didn't want to be a pain and promised myself I would only check and get a copy of the status report once a month until January then every 2 weeks until it was scheduled. Then every week after it was scheduled.

I paid unfortunately MSRP. That's all anybody would accept and I checked about 8 or 9 places before depositing.

I will post the new status for you tomorrow.

6505pony,
Don't be too upset with the price. I'll bet flat MSRP turns out to be a good deal once the verts start hitting the lots.

The dealer decides which orders they want to submit to fill their allocation. If they want to give top priority to a stock order, then Ford will pull the stock order first.

Perhaps the reason for some of the long wait times is that the dealer prefers to have a Mustang on the ground to sell, rather than fulfill a "skinny" order.

6505Pony,

I agree that MSRP will be the norm. I may have been quoted a $1000.00 over invoice price for the car but I was also told that at this time that price was not locked in. I don't think the price is maybe locked in until you get a build date which is at least several weeks away. I will let you know what the final deal is. I was told that most dealers would be lucky to get 4 or 5 verts in 2005. That alone is going to keep the price high.

Hey guys, the price is locked in as soon as the dealer gets a printed Dora back, with the price listed. I ordered one for a customer back on September 9th. Once we got the price, we know what it will be, as customers get price protection. MSRP will be the norm for the verts this year, as there will not be many to go around. If you get a price from a dealer at a discount, make sure you go back to them to get a DORA with the price you agreed to in writing. This way, they can't pull a fast one on you.

What is the time frame to get the DORA after the order is placed. I ordered mine on 1/8/05. When should I bug the dealer about the DORA?

Hey Scott, I would give them a call today. If you ordered it on 1/8, They should have it in 2 days max. If they put the order into the factory in the evening of 1/8, it would take about 2 days. If they submitted the order in the morning of 1/8, they should have it the next day. Anyway, with it being the 15th, they should have it with the price for the car listed.

05FORDGT,
Been to see the dealer this afternoon and got some good news and some bad news. The good news is I got a copy of my Dora and the order has been placed. I got my deal at $1000.00 over invoice and my dealer gave me a 10 priority on scheduling.
The bad news is the invoice price went up $240.00 for something called FDAF assesment. Anybody know what the heck that is??? The other bad news is the order is on HOLD because I ordered the IUP. If I change my order from 18G to 18R they will schedule a build date. Otherwise it on HOLD. We are a good 5 months from vert weather here in Ohio so I guess I will sit tight for awhile. Dealer claims they called Ford and it's due to parts shortage not the lawsuit.

I just came back from my dealer today. My order from 11/6 is clean/unscheduled as of 1/13. The sales manager states that they gave up 2 allocations for me to get this car ASAP.

They tried to jerk me around in the beginning of this deal, but I think they have finally realized how important and commited to this car I really am.

They have made some contacts and stated they are expecting a February build date but there is no commitment at this time. (IUP issue still dragging on?)

I will be checking back with him in 2 weeks if I don't hear anything.

Here is what I ordered:

GT Prem Redfire Black Top $30550
Auto Trans $995
Shkr 1000 $1295
Anti-Theft $255
ICAP $175
IUP $450
Wheel Locks $50
Convert Boot $115
Machined Wheels $195
Destination $625

Total $34705

I opted out side air bags (livin on the edge).

Do you think I can get an extra set of charcoal floor mats for free?

My dealer offered me a V6 at sticker - just a tad below $28500 -but I included a lot of stuff like traction control etc. He said allocations for verts would be tight but offered me MSRP because I've bought cars there before (2 previous Mustangs).

Funny and sad: talked to a saleman at mt dealer today and he said official pricing was not out yet (I told him I could get at The Mustang Source.com) and that verts would not be out for a year. Just as he said that my regular saleman walked up and we talked details. I busted the guy...why allow someone like that to be a dumb SOB and destroy customer good will(?).

I had the same problem last weekend. I hit 5 dealerships about pricing and was told by everyone of them including the one I ordered from the pricing wasn't out yet. After I showed it to them they would go check and tell me I was correct. You would think since they do this for a living they'd be up to date alittle better. I also stop at a 6th dealer on 1/14/05 because they started a radio commerical stating they will beat anyones deal or the car is FREE!! At first I got the same responce about pricing not being out yet. After I proved it was, I got to talk to the Sales Manager. He claimed all Verts will sell for 3 to 5 K over sticker. I told him what my deal was (1K over invoice) and asked if he would beat that deal. After tripping over his tongue for 5 minutes his answer was NO. I reminded him about their ad and he said they forgot to say that offer was not valid on all 05 Stangs. Go figure.
This outfit has a bad reputation. I chuckled and left. The same place has a 04 Cobra sitting in the showroom marked down to $33,995.00. They probably tied to get 3-5K over invoice for that also. No one should have to pay over invoice for there baby. I got very lucky. I would have paid MSRP in a heartbeat.

O5 GT Convertible
Performance White/Parchment Int. and Top
All the goodies except Shaker 1000 and ICAP
Ordered on 1/8/05
Order on HOLD because of IUP
$1000.00 over invoice-It can be done

Hey Scott, I just read your delema. The FDAF assesmant is Ford's advertising. It is on every car. The thing with it is, the invoice price includes this, fuel from the factory, and destination/delivery. Whatever the invoice says, you should be paying $1,000 over it. Make sure that you are not paying $1,000 over, and gettng charged the FDAF again. If you can post a pic of your DORA, I can look at it, and let you know.

Hey GoFisch,
Did you order the IUP?? How did you get a build date. From everything I can find out Ford has put a hold on all new orders with the IUP until sometime in Feb.
I hope your build date is good. Just tell me how you got so lucky!!

Hey 05FORDGT,
Been trying to post a jpeg of my DORA and can't seem to get the file small enough. Here is the dealer invoice pricing I received on my Dora.
GT Conv. Premium- $27,871.00
5-spd auto trans-$886.00
Active anti-theft-$227.00
Int Upgrade Package-$401.00
Seat side airbags-$329.
Cont. boot- $102.00
17" Bright Machined Wheels-$174.00
11 US gal of gas-$21.23
FDAF assessment-$240.00
Dest. and Deliv-$625.00
Total dealer invoice-$30,876.23 + $1,000.00 = $31,876.23 (My Price)
I don't think I am getting hosed by the dealer. They just didn't include the FDAF in my original quotation and it thru me. Seem correct to you???
