Thats a lot better than the cavalier. GM keeps pouring only slightly better than mediocre engines in front wheel drive cars. That's stupid. But I'm sure there are quite a few people stupid enough to buy them.
As hard as it is for me to say this, GM's slightly better than medicore engines, however low-tech they may be, usually get better gas mileage and make more power than Ford's Ford's engine program got way backed up when that Explorer fiasco occured. They've been behind ever since.

The Vulta sounds really impressive though mechanically. Perhaps if they changed the design.... might even consider it over a mustang

Volta Site

0-60 in 4 seconds! 408 hp from a hybrid engine! kinda makes my jaw drop

With electric motors at each wheel, that's not suprising but impressive anyway.

Electric drives give torque like a ....

THey might be able to match the Mustangs in power and torque, but I just don't see how they can compare on styling. That Cobalt is Fugly.

200 Horsepower, with a supercharger????? I have no words to say for this chevy, GO MUSTANG V6!!!!
It works out to about 100 hp per liter, which is fairly impressive.

The Mustang V6 is about 52.5 hp per liter. Adding a supercharger would bring this up to maybe 68.5 hp per liter. The 2-valve heads don't have the necessary airflow to get close to 100 hp per liter.

I still prefer the Mustang V6. Both cost about the same, and the Mustang has RWD and a serious amount of Automotive Mojo™, which is hard to define, but something the Cobalt definitely lacks.

Competition for the Musang? Uh........ NO! Maybe competition fo the Focus, but not the mustang. That's like comparing Apples to Tomatoes. They are Both Red, on the Outside, but Completly Different Produce. Just because they are both affordable and have similar horsepower does not mean they are competition. Do you think the Cobalt will turn Heads or Elicit Excitment from people like the 05 Stang?

The Cobalt is just Chevy's New Cavalier. Which I find Hysterical! Why did they change the name of one of their best selling cars, yet make the New One Look so Similar to the One they are Obviosly Ashamed of?

I have to Admit I like the Scion TC. It's the First Toyota Product I look twice at since the last Mr2 came out. I think Toyota and Chevy are stuck in their own respective Ruts. Chevy's just seem cheaply made, and still seem like something from the Eighties, or early Nineties. And Toyotas are Just Boring! Well with the exception of the F-Ugly Celica, which is exactly what the Scion TC is here to Replace.

As for the Volta? Maybe as a New Supra Replacement, but It will NOT BE CHEAP, and it is still Ugly as far as I'm Concerned!

Honestly there hasn't been a car I have Lusted after or WANTED As Badly, as I want an 05 Mustang. The Only other cars that come to mind In my Recent Memory are the 350 Z/Infinity G35 Coupe. And I have never felt about them, the way I feel about the 05 Stang. This Car just Makes an Emotional Connection With My Self as well as Many Other People. Something that can't be said for any Cavalier/Cobalt, or Scion TC.

Competition for Dodge. I don't care if it's faster than a Mustang with a V-6, it doesn't have a genuine shape like the Mustang....it looks like most of the other import tuners.

I agree Toyota will never be able to sell the Vulta for anywhere near the price of the Stang. Even if they do it'll be a ricer just like the first one was. Turbos and Bling = BARF!!
Hybrid engine pushing 400 horses AND a composite carbon body? No way they will even come CLOSE to keeping that around $25-30k. That car will be nice, nice and EXPENSIVE.

A co-worker just got a Scion Tc. It's nice inside, we've gone to lunch in it now several times, but I don't think it compares to a V6 Mustang. Styling wise at least. The quality of the Scion seems to be very high, and it's great for transporation, but it's not a Mustang!

I think the V6 Mustang fills a niche for people that want more then just transporation. B)

Long live the Mustang! :worship:

MT has a short test of the Cobalt SS in their Feb. '05 issue. It's better than I thought it would be. 0-60 in 6.0 seconds, quarter mile in 14.5 seconds @ 98.2 mph, 60-0 in 115 feet, 0.89 g on a 200 foot skidpad, and 69.0 mph through their 600 foot salom. Quite impressive salom figure for a FWD car, probably due to the locking diff. According to MT it's faster through the cones than an '05 Corvette Z51.

I hate the rear wing.

I myself plan to get an '05 Mustang V6 manual, but I won't be racing any of these...
