So we picked up the car last night and everything is great. Brook loves it and she had fun driving it back from SC.. One small issue that isn't that big of a deal but may be to others is that our dealer couldn't put in the college grad discount and when he looked it up it wasn't listed for the stang! Now, I went to the website a few weeks ago and it was still available then - has anyone else managed to use this discount?

Our dealer is extremely nice and said that he's going to try again in a month or so and will send us a check if he manages to get it in..

Hey, it's an extra payment!

Karl

P.S. The car's wonderful... can't wait to take it for a spin on my own!! B)

I had the same problem. Apparently the car is too new and it's not in the system to receive authorization yet but the car is eligible. My salesman has been working closely with the college program people and they said they are working it. We'll see what happens, he's supposed to call them back on Friday to see if it has been taken care of yet.

I had problems with mine as well. My dealer got an authorization number and such, but didn't want to possibly get taken for $400. So they left it off, but will send me a check if it goes through 100%.

I haven't tried to use mine yet, but I can guarantee I will. The coupon Ford sent me says the discount is available on every new 04 and 05 ford, excluding only the svt cobra, the Ford GT, and some heavy-duty trucks. The list of exclusions DOES NOT include the 05 mustang, so you should be able to use the discount. I have a working relationship with an excellent salesman, and I think he will go to bat for me on this. If Ford won't honor the discount the dealer will eat it or I just won't buy the car.

I'm sure the coupon also says "subject to dealer discretion". Remember, the dealer can choose to not even honor A/Z/D/X plans.

Just got this update from Ford:

SMD#CI-41624/4885 2004 FORD COLLEGE GRADUATE PROGRAM

Ford Division is enhancing the 2004 College Graduate Program (Pgm#3810) to include 2005-Model Mustang, effective November 9, 2004.

Hope this helps

Paul

So is this only for college graduates or what? How much is the discount. This is the first mention I've heard of this one...

It's for "recent" college grads which is actually like 2 years or something. The specifics are on the web site.

The discount is different depending on school - UGA is $400 off. GaTech is x-plan pricing. I guess Ford hires a lot of engineers from there or something.

That's what was squirrely about the whole thing. My dealer got an authorization from someone he called, but was reluctant to utilize it during the sale. He was afraid he (the dealership) was going to get hosed for $400. He did said they would send it in and send me a check if it went through. I'll be calling him tomorrow about this.
