If a new Corvette can be bought for under 45000 where and how close do you think Cobra prices are going to be. Ford will need to keep it cheaper than the Vette I would think or build a car that is far superior than the vette to get the same money.

You can't compare prices today with prices in 2 years.

I'm betting that the '07 Cobra will be under 40k. If it goes above 40k, there are other cars I will have to seriously consider, and the C6 would be one of them. I like Mustangs, but the Vette is in a different category altogether.

First off, you title scared me ...$450,000. Anyway I think it will be compared to the vette, proably more expensive. More power for more money.

Power is only part of the equation. Mustangs are about bang for the buck, and that includes the Cobra. Look at what GM is doing with the C6, and I say it will take more than just a 500 horsepower engine to take the new Mustang to Corvette territory.

Well, even the '05 Mustang GT has the '05 Vette beat in front styling.

This is just one of those things where we have to wait and see.

Hey Guys, I just saw one of the new vettes at a Jax Beach dealership with a 56G sticker on it...I did not study it heavily, But 45 seems quite low for the new vette.

Invoice on the hardtop, with no options, is $38K, MSRP for the same is $45K.

With no options.

The cobra will not offer many options (I'm thinking paddle shift and spoiler delete).
IT will be well loaded at its base price of 38-39K (my guess, of course).

Yes, I think 38K-39K also, although if the 05 GT is only minimally more expensive than last years, that should also apply to the Cobra. But we are talking about 2 long painful years from now.
