...at a steady 65 miles per hour, "windows down" or "A/C on" made virtually no difference in mileage.
The Mustang got 4.1 percent better mileage -- 30.7 mpg vs. 29.5 mpg -- with the windows down. The Land Rover got 1.6 percent better mileage with the windows down, a difference of just 0.3 miles per gallon.

On our road trip to Colorado, the computer said we got 27.8 mpg. I was amazed since we did a lot of mountain roads!!!

LOL, I'm at 14 in the city and 16 on the autobahn...and it does not bother me one bit. Not sure why or how anyone would feather the gas pedal...unless driving on snow of course.

I didn't buy my car at all for the mileage, but while were on this subject I'll tell what I've gotten. With my 93 octane tune, AND AR L/T's, I was heading to a show in Jersey, so it was alot of TP driving. I always reset the MPG meter when I hop on the highway. I got it reading 31.2 MPG on the way to Jersey. I was in 5th, doing around 65 mph. Not that I do this all the time, but with the headers and 93 tune, I was really impressed.

It's nice to be able to tell my smug import loving co-workers that my " domestic gas-guzzler" V8 Mustang can get up to 30 mpg on the highway and have 300 hp with V8 torque
It's interesting that at 65 mph, they got about 1.7 mpg more with the windows down than with the windows up and the A/C on. I always thought the extra drag from open windows would decrease gas mileage.
