Yeah you are not alone. There is a TSB out about the cam phaser or something that deals with a noise the engine makes - I had the dealer look at mine and he said the sound was NOT cuased by that (TSB) becuase it was all the time (the phaser one is supposed to be intermittant).

In the TSB it even says there is supposed to be a certain amount of engine noise but yeah, it drives me NUTS too. Wonder if the 06s do it too?...

It has to do with the AC being on. I thought it was a problem with my car at first, then when I was driving with my Dad we turned of the AC the clicking stopped. Once he turned it on, the clicking started. You'll stop hearing it after awhile, no worries. These engines are known for being noisy with all different kinds of sounds.

Guys, these are two distinct sounds. I have both and I have done some research on them. What I know so far.

1st one - clicking noise - the a/c "recycling" or whatever you want to call it - all is normal and only comes on when a/c is turned on and happens every 10 secs or so

2nd one - engine ticking noise - TSB - mine is intermittent and it is coming from one of the heads. Question is whether or not the dealer will work w/ you to solve it. Mine comes and goes when the engine is fully warmed up.

THAT one they should fix, bro!!
They said they wouldn't on mine cause the noise is all the time - the 'intermittant one' they are supposed to fix with the TSB. Take it in - if you don't wanna run back to Glades Ford, try the one in Delray off Linton just east of 95. Guy named Alan in Service is a good guy!

I am going to try another dealer 1st then maybe take it down there if my dealership does not want to work w/ me. Remember I have mods which they may give me a hard time about.

ok i don't really know the difference between a "click" and a "tick" sound but mine has been making it off and on. at first i convinced myself that it was the a/c and i haven't really noticed the noise for a while, but then last night, with the windows closed and in the rain (heat on) i heard it. when it comes on (or perhaps when i notice it) it is every few seconds, not just once or twice. but it's not consistent each time i drive it (at least i don't think so). car is going in this weekend so i'll print off the TSB for them too.

thanks guys
k

What's the TSB again for the engine noise guys? Cuz mine is still doing the pinging/clicking from the engines during random hits on the throttle. Sounds like two marbles hitting eachother and clicking sometimes loud sometimes less pronounced. I also have the clunky tranny issue where it makes a huge clunk when moving from park to reverse.

Delray and mods:
I brought mine in for radio TSB and to check the noise - had my my JLT CAI and running my tune for it and didn't hear word one - besides "Nice car".

TSB --- Technical Service Bulletin -- a document provided to the dealer/service center that identifies a problem with a particular model vehicle that may arise and will be addressed free of charge by the dealer's service center. It also gives details of the potential problem and way(s) to resolve the situation.
