Clean clear coat and chrome wheels with no chemicals

This may help someone? I used a portable steamer to clean my chrome wheels , no water spots, brake dust on the clear coat gt500wheels came right off.The chrome wheels shine and seem to stay cleaner longer? The steam with the little vinal brush attachment took the mildew spots out off the convertable top with out any chemicals. This may not be in the right spot for this thread but their alot off cars with nice wheels in this area. Also anyone with a stainless steel grills it works great on them to.

Post a pic of that steamer.Sounds like a good way to clean wheels without scratching the clear coat.

doesn't regular water and a wet micro fiber/cotton towel, and worst case car was soap, work to do the same thing ?? It's all I ever used on the stock bullitts and I never had a scratch.

Uh, no! Unless you have used a good steamer before, you won't have any idea how well these things work on a huge variety of "stuff". The one I have is a small commercial version that I absolutely LOVE: http://www.steam-cleaners-direct.com/

I haven't used it on my car yet (GREAT idea boss429man!!!!), but it has worked perfectly on the surfaces I have used it on around the house. You know, I have some small stains in my carpet mats that just might be a good candidate! Not to mention my Bullitts DO have a bit of brake dust on them right now...

Oh, and I just want to clarify: I'm not saying there is anything wrong with soap and water to clean the wheels. I'm just saying a good steam cleaner will do a BETTER job of getting "stuff" out of little nooks and crannies that you can't even see. I'm still amazed at how clean my vinyl floors feel after being steam cleaned.

The steamer I have I bought it at bed ,bath and beyond it made by Scnuci, retail at 59.00 with all the attachments, clean the wheels on the 1970 boss with same results 38 year old wheels. I bought it to clean bathroom things and kitchen things inside microwave ovens water fill on frige and coffee machine and windows and mirrors, outside patio stuff , and grills great for getting wrinkel out of clothes, but it works great on car things. Wheels, chrome, stainless steel, fab.seats carpet stains and grease and grim under the hood ,ect. and on ly uses a small amount of water. and the vert top I just tried this weekend had so minor mildew stains in it and it took them out same with bird dropping on a black top could be a mess if it dryesI have white int in the 70 and it works preety good with the confort weave vinal with all those little weaves, still working on that!
