I'm sure many of you are receiving that email update from ford as I'm typing, but I just looked at the new pdf and there's mention of an optional chronometer in the '05!!!

Sounds like a freebie, can't be an option right?
Just keep your eye on the brand-new available
chronometer. 0 to 30 mph. Wait, 0 to 60 mph. Hang on, 0 to 100 mph
(on a supervised track, of course).
Or better yet what does available mean? $$

 

I'm assuming 'available' means 'optional' - shouldn't be too steep, I'd think. Maybe part of the premium package?

 

It comes with the Interior Upgrade Package/MyColor feature. Someone posted photos of the chronometer a few weeks ago; it's part of the message center.

 

Can I ask? What is the purpose of a chronometer?

Just another little toy. Hopefully it will automatically measure acceleration (0 - 60, etc) time.

I think its like the explorer/exped one that just keeps trip times allong with trip odo.

 

That helps alot. I am familiar with the one in the Explorer. I personally probably will never use it.

i bet you can get a stopwatch and a calculator a heck of a lot cheaper

 

yah,..,...but this would be more accurate,,,,,quicker than pretty much any finger-to-stopwatch results one can do

 

true, but in reality just another gimmick 99% of people will never use.

 

kinda like the trunk release in the trunk,,,,,, or an engine block heater in florida,,,

I would guess most people who test it out would do it in a track. I wonder how accurate it will be when compared to the track's stopwatch.

Its just a line of code in the computer, so it costs virtually nothing.

You cant exactly use it for any kind of performance testing anyway.
