Design #1 is what we are going with, however, the slogan will not be the fox slogan. The slogan is "More Pony Than Ever."
Very well spoken, in fact it is kind of what I was thinking after getting people's reaction both here and a couple of other forums. I had to explain that it wasn't a slam on the fox bodies (which is what I own). And I realized that if I had to explain it, my message simply wasn't coming across the way I wanted it to.
That Graphic Design - some tricky stuff...
Regarding the obscurity of the S197 reference. That is kind of the target we were aiming at. We want people "in the know" to sport this shirt. And those that don't know what S197 means - they'll most likely ask and find out. And since about 85% of our sales are from people that read about us on web boards, we certainly want to target that demographic.
Again, I want to thank everyone for your input on these designs!

#1 I like the front view with the pony on the grille.
I don't care for the reference "Thinking outside the FOX". I understand what you're saying about the evolution to today's Mustang. The reference is too obscure for most folks.
It's like a joke that most people don't get. And then you gotta explain it to 'em. And if you have to explain it...it's like forget about it.
Like in the Tom Hanks' movie "That Thing You Do". The band was called the "Oneders". They wanted people to think "One - Ders" - ha, ha. But people kept saying "Oh - Needers". So Hanks had them forget the joke and changed their name to "The Wonders".
Instead of "Thinking outside the Fox", I'd prefer in the color red either, "Mustang", or "Mustang GT", or nothing at all.
It's only my humble opinion, but I hope it's helpful.
