check engine light stays on

Hello, yesterday after refuelling i drove around town 20 miles and the check engine light appeared for first time since i bought the car.
The car has 30k and everything works perfect.
I read the manual and it says bad gas can do this.
Anybody experienced this before because of gas ?
And if this is the problem the light will go off by itself ?
Also can nybody recommend a good code reader, wich can read the codes, delete it also , and maybe fix the little ones ?
Thank you much!

I would bet your gas cap is bad. Happened to me. Get a new gas cap, problem solved.
The light will go out as the code will go away once the cap is replaced.

BUT... and this is important... going to an Autozone or such and having the codes read would be a better indicator of what's upsetting the car. Which is how I found out indeed... my gas cap was bad. It could be something else.

As far as what reader to get... all readers are pretty much the same, just features and such. As such, just look at the features, including the ability to clear codes, and how it's displayed maybe... Just have to search out what's available nearby, go to a store and see, or get it from Amazon or such...

Yeah that might work if you have an evaporative system code but it really could be anything. So don't go buy a gas cap until you know what it is.

And how was I supposed to know he's in Europe?
No info about it under his username, and it's not mentioned in the opening post.

I'm sure there are other auto parts stores in Europe that do free code reading. If not, a OBD II Bluetooth adapter and an App like Torque will do the trick

You weren't. I just remembered he lived out of country. It might not even be Europe.
