OK boys and girls, I have a small drip from the rear diff cover on the '06. As I don't like little drips I gotta fix the dang thang. Any tips from you good folks with more experience than I on this endeavor? Any tip, big or little, will be most appreciated. Thanks.

Use a drip pan. Remove bolts from the cover but leave a couple on top, just loosen them up. Pry the bottom of the cover until the oil comes out and then remove the top bolt(s). This will help instead of prying the cover off and having that gear oil go everywhere. Clean up the flanges and apply new rtv, be sure to get around all the bolt holes. If you want you can use thread sealer on the bolts also. Then fill it up with oil and friction modifier. I've got a little tube that screws on the oil bottle and it has a one way check valve. This might help you fill it without making a mess. Also when you jack the car up, support the car from the frame and let the axle hang. This too will give you a little extra room to work with. When the suspension is loaded the panhard bar and stuff might get in the way.

What gear oil did you buy to put in there?

Who me? I have an Auburn Pro diff in there so I used whatever dino oil they recommended. Can't remember the weight but I think it was Lucas. I used to run Royal Purple with an extra 4 oz of friction modifier when I ran the stock rear end.

I have no idea right now Glenn. I'm open to suggestions though. Being retirement I need to find the time to get the job done. If you're retired I'm quite sure you know what I mean.
