Cargo Net for 05-up Mustangs

Does anyone know why the 05-up Mustang cargo nets are $44 while the much larger cargo net for Crown Vics are about $20 from Ford?

Has anyone used a generic cargo net for their 05-up Mustang, and if so, what was the brand name and where did you find it?

Thanks in advance!

Because Ford knows that we are obsessed with our Mustangs and will pay whatever price for an accessory. I don't even have my car home yet and my credit card bill is approaching the 2K mark.

Kev: LOL, I am the same way!! I had a bunch of accessories stocked up before I even found the right car

I'm going to test fit the Crown Vic net and see if it will work. It's a much wider net, but the extra slack shouldn't hurt anything.

Are you talkin' about the one that has a plastic base and everything?

Sorry... I was thinkin' of the cargo organizer.. that's a pretty cool dealy..... and I was about to shart 'cause I thought you said it was $40.... but that's just the net.... the organizer is $139... I think that's way pricey for it.... but it is a cool .... thing.... for lack of a better work.

I kept the net from my 2002 'Stang, it doesn't fit. I don't think the Crown Vickie one would either.

The Crown Vic net uses two "ear loops" that attach to the double hooks on either side of the trunk.

I have not seen a 05-up Stang cargo net in person though.

I've got the Ford one , and it comes with two hooks with screws that replace one of the existing pins for the trim on either side of the trunk ...

I got the trunk organizer and it is worth the money. The net doesn't hold stuff in place as well in my opinion.

About 18 months ago I bought a cargo net from Subaru, cost all of $25.59 including sales tax from the local dealer! The net comes with upper mounting ***** that I installed across the rear trunk panels.

I also made my own L-brackets and screwed them to the trunk floor to engage the clips that come on the bottom of the net. The attached pics show the installation. You can also order the net directly from Subaru (part # F551SAG000) by using this link:

My biggest challenge was to cover the word Subaru on the cargo net pull-tag. I solved that by taking the adhesive Ford decal of one of my discarded stock wheel cover caps and pressing it on to the pull-tag. It stuck nicely and what seems to be permanently!

I'm pretty happy with the Cargo net. It does what it does. I've never had an issue with groceries and it keeps my detail spray and air station contained. I never hear them roll around.

The mustang one comes with two T studs that you screw in. The 'net hangs centered in the trunk space right under the trunk lid. Dunno how the 'Vic net is different.

I still have the Mustang net, but don't use it. I forgot to get the hooks off of the '05 when it was wrecked, but could probably get new ones if I tried. I've got the trunk organizer too, and I use it all the time.

I got the 2005 Mustang cargo net. However it doesn't seem to fit my 2007 Mustang! The trunk on the 2007 is a bit different. The diagram on the instructions looks different than my trunk. The net comes with a pair of "T" hook looking mouting bolts to replace two plastic pushin fasteners on either side. The problem is, those two fasteners are not there on 2007 models.

I found two Metric 13 bolts on either side of the trunk and loosend them and strected the net across and fastened it to them and retightened.

The net is installed and usable but hardly the way it was intended. There was an 800 number on the instructions but it was after hours so i couldn't call it and ask...WTF?

My 2007 has the two plastic fasteners on the sides. They have a strip of plastic down the exterior for your hand to tighten or loosen.

They are way closer together than those 2 metal bolts! I'll go and take some pics. Give me about 5 minutes.

as promised.

I have the two twist type plastic fittings on top and 2 push-pin rivets on the bottom. I believe the bolt you're talking about is also in the pic.

See the plastic fastener at the top of my photo? Those are the things you need to remove and replace with the hooks. Those things are not push-in retainers, but instead will simply unscrew (left loosy, right tighty).

hmmm....I have the same pic that you have. The hardware that came with the net won't work on the two twist fittings on top. So that leaves only the 2 push pin rivets on the bottom. That seems too low to mount the net. Ok thanks very much for your help. I'll go out and have another go at it.

I think you'll see the problem when you see the hardware that came with the net. In the first pic you see the 2 bolts and slip-on nut that came with the cargo net. It looks like they are meant to replace a plastic rivet.

In the second pic you see the upper plastic screw-in type fasterner that i removed. This is the fastener shown in the top of your photo. The bolt that it attaches to is not removable.

In the third pic are the instructions. The diagram appears to show it connecting to the sides of the trunk rather than any part of the back panel. I believe there should be a plastic pushin rivet on the sides of the trunk near that metal bolt. I'll call the 800 number tomorrow.
