Car Shipping Help

So here's the deal guys, I just accepted a 4 month internship in LA. Well I'm trying to figure out what my best option is for transportation out there. I def need a car, so my first thought is to have the car shipped out there. Question I have is it possible to fill my car with stuff when I ship it? I'm not talking fill it to the brim. But filling the trunk and possibly the back seat would really save me a penny on getting my stuff out there. My stuff is not very valuable so I'm not worried about anything getting broken or even stolen. But will a shipping company let me do this?

Also any shipping company suggestions would be helpful.

I will say I've also considered selling the stang and taking over a short term lease for awhile. After that I might be ready to grab a new stang?

Thoughts? Suggestions? Help in general?

Lots of car shippers out there just google it. Shop around for a closed container and price. Ask about a deliverey date<- some say it will be there tues but you may not see it untill friday. You can put stuff in your car but they may not be heald responisable for it. It will be safer inside. I thing I paid about a buck a mile but that was about 8 years ago.

Most shippers offer "stand by" rates which is a pretty good deal.

I think a road trip from TX to CA would be a blast!!

shiping from texas to cali would be about $800. A road trip from tx to ca would be $150. Its a pretty drive with all the things to see and the sunsets.

I'd say ship the stuff fedex, and ENJOY THE DRIVE

I still dream of doing the trip from Ohio->chicago/rt66 all the way to the west coast

I took a 6000 mile road trip in '90 including parts of route 66 (but in a camaro- sorry), headed west without a plan/schedule, had one of the best vacation trips of my life...wake up 5am, find something on the map, drive 500 miles or so, spend the afternoon/evening there/repeat...

Another vote for driving the Mustang out yourself. Cheaper and a whole lot more fun, and no worries about damage incurred in shipping.

Congrats. My friend goes to UT currently. I am in LA. What are you interning. I think you should drive it. If you dont have much stuff assuming laptop, clothes, misc. It should all fit in your car.

I have no input to give here other than to say that it's about time you got smart and left that terrible place.

car shipping

My suggestion would be "Sancrest Transport". I bought a Saleen from Missouri and had it shipped to Maryland. These guys were outstanding. Constantly calling me and letting me know where they were and time of arrival. My cars trunk and backseat were loaded with additional parts, so that woundnt be a problem. PM me if interested in their #. Just my 2 cents

Thanks for all the comments guys. The more I research this, the more I'm leaning towards just driving. I'll be interning with a production company which should be cool but will def keep me busy.

I've driven from South Texas to LA and back and also from South Texas to Phoenix and back.

I like driving across America. You'll enjoy it. Just take your time and make some stops along the way. See the sights.
